Job Title: Tool Room Attendant

POSITION SUMMARY:
Primary responsibility for the tool room attendant position includes staffing the tool desk and providing professional customer service while checking out and signing in tools and PPE. Our ideal candidate is a self-starter and a motivated individual with an engaging and flexible, can-do attitude, basic computer, organizational, and people skills.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.

  • Meeting the needs and desires of all customers in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Knowledge of marine products, inventory control, equipment and tools is a plus.
  • Maintain Tool Room inventory and supplies while communicating with the Materials Coordinator and Production Support Supervisor to maintain stock levels.
  • Inspect tools for condition and ensure sets are complete and tag-out damaged equipment.
  • Ability to record all transactions, maintain related records, paper and electronic filing.
  • Inspect fire extinguishers
  • Receives orders delivered to the yard by mail and delivery drivers.
  • Check-in orders against pack slips and communication discrepancies to the Materials Coordinator and Purchasing.
  • Assist in shipping and receiving, unloading trucks, checking in merchandise.
  • Temporary support roles including driving and fire watches
  • Light data entry
  • Wearing the proper personal protective equipment.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety standards, and industry codes.
  • May perform maintenance duties, such as cleaning and sweeping shipyard facility
  • Forklift operations (training provided)
  • Other duties may be assigned.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:
-Strong Customer Service skills
-Passing a pre-employment drug screen.
-Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

-Maintain excellent attendance and punctuality.
-Able to communicate effectively both spoken and in writing.
-Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
-Assist with other miscellaneous jobsite tasks as directed.
-Able to work well with others in a team environment.

-Prioritize and manage time
-Comply with all OSHA, shipyard safety and environmental policies and procedures.

- Hold and maintain a valid Driver’s License.

- Basic computer skills i.e., MS Office, Internet for sourcing materials.

- -Bilingual applicants encouraged

- DAY SHIFT:

Has a 6 AM start time. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand. Shift work maybe required.

PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS:
-Occasional exposure to noises due to machining, grinding and welding.
-Occasional use of a respirator.
-Frequent standing for up to two hours at a time.
-Frequent lifting of up to 20lbs and occasional lifting of up to 50lbs.
-Ability to climb ladders.
