TLUI Technician Job at North Slope Borough, AK
Revise, translate into Inupiaq, the traditional land use inventory of the North Slope and assist in theapplication of associated information.

Prepare revisions and corrections to traditional land use materials, TLUI oral history tapes and written materials.
Review and edit for linguistic accuracy Inupiaq/English translation.
Ensure correct Inupiaq spelling of locations and descriptions of place names, rivers, base features on the North Slope for developing the bilingual maps.
Record locations and descriptions of traditional land use sites.
Perform data revision and data entry into various computer databases.
Work with the GIS/LMR personnel on issues related to the TLUI.
Work as intermediary between traditional land use databases and subsistence database.
Travel to and coordinate and interview elders from villages for gathering information related to TLUI and oral history.
Assist at IHLC Commission meetings and Elders/Youth Conference for translating, transcribing tapes and workshops at the conferences.
Assist in the completion of the annual report on all historic preservation activities to the State Historic Preservation Office (SHPO).
Assist in the submission of annual updates of Alaska Heritage resources Survey (AHRS) information to the office of History and Archeology.
Comply with all appropriate laws and regulations as stated in the requirements and responsibilities of the Certified Local Government (CLG) regulations.Attend and complete all required training and workshops.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge of GIS or equivalent field.
Skill in using ArcInfo and ArcView.
High school graduate or G.E.D/or, a combination of 12 years of education and related work experience.
Two years of work experience with a PC using common software applications;
Two years work experience in editing English and Inupiaq material;
Two years of work experience in the area of Inupiat culture and geography.
Fluent in Inupiat speaking and writing;
