Position Summary
In this role, you will lead the supply of a specific product category for Timberland and drive the execution of key cross-functional projects throughout the Timberland Operations and regional Supply Chain. You will be accountable for planning, executing, controlling, and monitoring supply planning activities within a category, with the objectives of delivering customer service excellence, synchronizing supply with demand and increasing inventory efficiency to improve inventory turns and Days of Supply (DOS) while reducing inventory investment, measuring supply performance, and strengthening relations with the sourcing offices. You and your team will deliver results by determining capacity-constrained supply requirements which support customer service, inventory, and cost objectives. You will engage cross-functionally with partners in the United States and worldwide to ensure on-time delivery.

Manager, Supply Planning - Apparel
You will be a trusted member of our Supply Chain Operations team, reporting to the Director, Regional Supply Planning. You will lead, coach, and develop a team of direct reports and develop and implement a succession plan within the function. You will provide leadership and execution of key projects and programs which advance initiatives and develop capabilities supporting category, supply planning growth, and productivity improvements. In addition, you play a crucial role in supporting the Timberland Sales and Operations Planning (S&OP) process and all related supply and inventory meetings and improvement projects tied to their category. You will work independently, and handle assignments of the highest complexity sponsored by the Vice President or Director. You will also establish control-related standards and procedures.
How You Will Make a Difference
What you will do:
  • Drive category development of capacity-constrained supply requirements for the factories which support customer service, inventory, and cost objectives
  • Analyze the “confirmed” versus “requested” supply plan, troubleshooting when they are not aligned
  • Manage buys and lead monthly and ad hoc meetings with sourcing offices to manage exceptions and minimize impact on the business
  • Develop strategies to minimize any supply and or supplier risks
  • Manage and meet the airfreight budget balancing customer needs and inventory levels
  • Support the monthly S&OP process, including all related supply, inventory, and customer service cross-functional meetings
  • Ensure on-time customer deliveries by working across a multi-functional team to prioritize incoming deliveries and manage outgoing customer orders based on requested start ship date through the supply and demand match analysis
  • Analyze capacity utilization and make recommendations on future needs
  • Manage Timberland’s category inventory levels (Regular, Excess, TBD, and Distressed) and achieve appropriate monthly/yearly budgets
  • Drive process improvements for the Wholesale and Retail businesses to support long-term sustainable inventory reductions
  • Partner with the Retail team to identify, create and implement inventory improvement projects
  • Maintain system integrity (demand and supply data) as well as update appropriate “age” inventory according to the seasonal calendar

  • Lead the local-for-local sourcing business case with the Global Supply Chain team to ensure the capability to deliver speed to meet the local market demands
  • Coach and direct planning managers and their direct reports
    • Ensure that their performance plans meet organizational objectives
    • Develop a succession plan
    • Establish performance expectations, skills, and competency development plans for all associates in Supply Planning
    • Identify talent gaps and implement improvement plans

Skill for Success
Years of Related Professional Experience: 7+ years of operations experience, 3+ years of people management experience. MBA/MS in Business Administration is a plus.
Formal education and subsequent undergraduate/graduate degrees, such as a bachelor’s degree, preferably in Supply Chain, Finance, Engineering, Business Management, or a related field, are nice to have, but we are most interested in your total experience and professional achievements.
