The district is in need of Tier 2 Paraprofessionals for the 2023-2024 school year:

Qualifications

· Must be 18 years of age

· High school diploma, Associate’s/bachelor’s degree, or Parapro Assessment

· Compliance with NJDOE Criminal History Background Check

· Experience with, or interest in, working with students ages 3 through 21 who have moderate to severe disabilities, such as, but not limited to: learning, social-emotional, behavioral, medical, and/or communication needs

Responsibilities

● Implements Behavioral Intervention Plans (BIPS)

● Collects and inputs skill acquisition and behavior reduction data

● Provides behavior support inside and outside of the classroom when applicable

● Assist students in boarding and exiting a transportation vehicle

● Assists students with all aspects of toileting which may include diapering, and lifting on and off a changing table/toilet/mats

● Feed students and/or assist students in feeding themselves

● Facilitates student’s use of mobility equipment such as walkers, mobile standers and seating-Training provided by a physical therapist or other appropriate staff

● Implements Intensive Teaching (IT) and collects associated data-Training provided by BCBA or other appropriate staff

● Assist students with the use of Assistive Technology (AT)-Training provided by speech therapist or other appropriate staff

● Assists students who are blind/visually impaired or deaf/hard of hearing by learning/supporting their mode of language (e.g. braille/ ASL)

● Ability to physically walk or run quickly for short distances may be necessary

● Ability to lift up to 50 pounds may be necessary

● Applies feedback/training from professional staff

● Work as a team member with the classroom teacher and other specialists to enable students to reach their greatest potential in the least invasive way possible.

● Handle with Care Training and the ability to use protocols when deemed appropriate

● Any other responsibilities as assigned by administration
