As a Fabricator II with GMR, you will be involved in the fabrication of event activation, trade show, museum, and special event properties. Your skills as a Finish Carpenter, Welder, Painter, Cabinet Builder or Display Builder will be welcomed, supported, and embraced in an environment that is defined by high quality standards and everchanging unique fabrication challenges. Teammates at this level should know how to safely use power tools and be able to understand and adapt quickly to their uses. You should have a broad understanding of fabrication and be able to learn the more intricate parts of exhibit fabrication with on-the-job training. In addition to working in a high-end fabrication facility, a Fabricator II who enjoys travel will have the option to be selected for short duration trips to various domestic and potentially international locations to supervise the installation and dismantle of display properties and events. WHAT YOU’LL DO //
  • Measure, cut, or shape wood, plastic, aluminum, steel, or other materials
  • Understand and follow engineering drawings
  • Layout and assemble wood and metal components
  • Safely operate a variety of wood/metal working machines as well as hand power tools
  • Attach parts and subassemblies together to form completed units, using glue, dowels, nails, screws and/or clamps, etc.
  • Weld parts and subassemblies together to form completed units
  • Build, repair, install items such as cabinets, laminate, shelving, wall panels and backwalls
  • Install hardware such as hinges, handles, catches, drawers, pulls, slides and more

YOUR EXPERIENCE //
  • 2+ years of background in finish carpentry, cabinetry, welding, metal fabrication, HVLP painting or experience in the auto show & trade show industry
  • Ability to safely operate industrial machinery
  • Ability to operate CNC router table or a willingness to learn the equipment
  • Proficient with all shop equipment and safety practices: table saws, routers, laminating, welders, mills, lathe, etc.
  • Ability to read and understand drawings, blueprints, and diagrams
  • Basic knowledge of math, measurements, and able to read a tape measure
  • Ability to multi-task, work under pressure, have strong attention to detail, and stand for long periods of time while completing jobs with demanding deadlines
  • Motivated with a high level of initiative; confidence to work independently or with a team in support of project goals and objectives
  • Responsible for maintaining a positive team-oriented attitude and have the motivation to continuously learn and improve your craft
  • Electrical knowledge, experience wiring low voltage LED ribbon and fixtures is a plus
  • Available to occasionally work overtime and weekends
  • Open to potential for travel to supervise installation of displays at domestic and international show sites
