Full Time (1230-9pm Monday –Friday, Rotating Weekends and holidays)

The associate in this position must have experience to operate a busy, fast paced switchboard, capable of handling stressful emergency situations. The associate must also provide the best customer service at all times while using good discretion and judgment.

Essential Job Functions

  • Process all internal and external telephone calls for the Kennedy Health System
  • Answer all calls (internal, external, and emergency) using a positive and pleasant speaking tone.
  • Assist callers by providing needed information and/or transferring to the appropriate person or department.
  • Respond professionally at all times using proper telephone etiquette.
  • Logs all codes, stats and unusual incidents in the logbook.
  • Announces emergency codes, stats and security emergencies in the organization in compliance with our procedures.
  • Initiates the fire and disaster procedures for drills, testing and actual emergencies for the organization.
  • Immediately upon notification, make the appropriate announcement on the overhead page system according to the alarm policy.
  • Call the appropriate department and alerts them of the alarm following department procedures. An accuracy rate of 100% must be maintained at all times.
  • Call the appropriate external department (police/fire) and informs them of the incident. An accuracy rate of 100% must be maintained at all times and recorded in the event book.
  • Maintains effective relationships with co-workers, physicians and management
  • Demonstrates a professional, efficient, and courteous telephone manner at all times.
  • Fosters a positive attitude among Jefferson associates
  • Must have a basic knowledge of the PC and its associated components
  • Demonstrates the basic understanding of Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, Access and E-Mail.
  • Knowledge of certain applications to perform patient and physician look-ups.

Minimum Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Required:

Ability to read and communicate in the English language. High School graduate or equivalent preferred.

In-depth knowledge of PC, Windows 95-98, NT workstation, and Windows NT server administration. Ability to handle busy switchboard and emergency situations. Customer service focus is necessary.
