STANDARD HOURS: 40 hours per week. Typical hours Monday - Friday 8:00 am -5:00 pm; Flexibility required to include other evening and/or weekend hours, as necessary.

SALARY RANGE: $67,984 - $75,538 per year

  • Salaries/Wages for all finalists (internal and external) will be based upon education, experiences, current wages, and internal equity.

POSITION SUMMARY

Manage daily operations of the Learning Management System (LMS). Serve as the subject matter expert and lead for configuring and maintaining this system. Demonstrate strong customer service with the ability to provide exceptional service to users (students, faculty, and staff) throughout the NWTC district. Work collaboratively with IIT, Talent Development, and external vendors to ensure that the instructional and Student Success needs are met as they relate to the LMS.

Essential Functions Statement(s)

  • Manage daily operations of the Learning Management System (LMS), including system configuration, integrations, course creation and session setup, reporting, and permissions, ensuring maximum uptime in a secure environment.
  • Partner with internal departments (e.g., Talent Development, Help Desk, Library, Corporate Training & Economic Development, Early College) to provide technical support and service to end users.
  • Perform diagnostics, resolve problems, provide solutions, and escalate problems to vendors as required, to assure appropriate and prompt solutions to LMS related concerns.
  • Track product enhancements, upcoming feature releases, upgrades and known issues, to keep the LMS current.
  • Communicate planned outages and maintenance as needed.
  • Schedule, communicate, and manage performance maintenance on the Learning Management. System, to keep the LMS current.
  • Collaborate with IIT to maintain associated learning technologies supported by the college.
  • Serve as a liaison between the College and vendors to support third-party integrations into the LMS.
  • Track and report system utilization and support-related metrics (e.g., trends in user activity, support tickets and knowledgebase inquiries). Utilize metrics data to inform processes and develop support resources for end users.
  • Partner with IIT to develop and maintain resources and documentation related to the LMS.
  • Provide input into the development of policies and procedures related to the LMS.
  • Provide technical support to the Curriculum Documentation System, as needed.
  • Consult with internal departments to develop and communicate change management standards, policies, and procedures for the LMS.
  • Test and implement functionality enhancements, operational productivity, and efficiencies for the LMS and Curriculum Documentation Systems.
  • Maintain knowledge of trends, enhancements, and developments of related software that integrates with the LMS. Attend trainings and join professional networks as appropriate.
  • Serve as the Learning Effectiveness representative to the IIT Change Advisory Board.
  • Perform diagnostics, resolve problems, escalate problems to vendors as required, work with other group members, and take appropriate actions to assure appropriate and prompt solutions to learning technology system related problems.
  • Consult with faculty one-on-one and small groups regarding the LMS and best practices for teaching with technology in face-to-face, online, and blended environments. Collaborate to test and implement functionality enhancements, operation productivity, and efficiencies for the LMS and Curriculum Documentation Systems.

SKILLS & ABILITIES

Education: Associate's Degree in Computer Support, Web Development, or related technology-focused degree
Experience: Minimum of three years related experience in a team-based environment required with 1 year of direct Learning Management System support preferred.

Computer Skills

Advanced knowledge of: Microsoft Office, Learning Management Systems (Canvas preferred), SIS system (Workday preferred), SQL Server, Flat Files, Command Line processes, batch processes. Experience with a wide variety of computer hardware and software systems. Technical knowledge of server and web technologies. Experience with web design / programming (HTML, CSS, Javascript) and / or PHP / Python / Ruby preferred, but not required. Aptitude and desire to quickly learn new systems and technologies.
