TITLE: TECHNOLOGY SPECIALIST I
DEPARTMENT: Technology
QUALIFICATIONS:
- A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Two years experience operating with computers and operating systems.
- Knowledge and skill set to include experience with peripherals, telecommunications, Google Apps and Microsoft products.
- Demonstrated expertise for systems implementation and installation.
- Troubleshooting skills at the highest level.
- Ability to provide technology skill training on various educational technology tools, apps and extensions to individuals, and small and large groups.
- Must possess a Valid Arizona Driver’s License.
- Possess or have the ability to obtain a valid Arizona Identity Verified Prints (IVP) Fingerprint Clearance Card within forty-five (45) days of employment.
JOB GOALS:
The Technology Specialist I performs routine technology maintenance functions on district wide network, computer, database and telecommunications systems, conducts installations, training and end user support and provides quality customer service support to all students and staff, with limited supervision.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
The following tasks are essential for this position. This list is not inclusive of all responsibilities. Individuals may not perform all of these tasks, or may perform similar related tasks not listed.
- Complies with all HIPAA and FERPA related confidentiality requirements.
- Develops positive relations with students, parents, school staff and the public.
- Provide regular updates to software on district devices, PC’s and Chromebooks.
- Establish and maintain good communication with district personnel, school staff, students and the public.
- Assist staff with instructions and training regarding new hardware/software deployments.
- Provide first line support for technology software and systems for all PUSD users.
- Maintain ticket discipline by providing timely assistance to end users and updating the work order system with solutions provided.
- Develop and ensure compliance to Information Technology Infrastructure Library documentation & associated processes.
- Work availability for after school hours maintenance and special projects.
- Other related duties as assigned by the Director of Technology & Innovation or the Network & Systems Administrator.
The Technology Specialist I position also has dedicated focus areas that may include one or more of the following:
- Hardware repair, including Chromebooks, PCs, projectors, peripherals, carts, etc.
- Network cabling and connection.
- User credentialing and device setup.
- Device and software deployment, management and inventory.
- Educational technology training and support.
- Website administration.
- Level 1 system administration and cross-training to provide level 1 support in various systems.
- Student testing support.
- SIS database administration.
- SIS systems integration.
- Client and VDI imaging and updates.
- District Technology procurement and purchasing.
- STEAM lab support.
- Manage Tech Crew and Tech Interns.
MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY:
Knowledge of:
- Computers, peripherals, and client and cloud-based software.
- Network servers, Local Area Network software and protocols to include TCP/IP.
- VoIP Intercom and telecommunication systems.
- Arizona Statute relating to education, preferred.
Skill and Ability to:
- Work cooperatively with others.
- Establish work priorities to meet schedules and timelines.
- Perform skilled implementation, preventive maintenance, repair/troubleshooting.
- Calmly perform during high stress situations, ability to organize and multitask, and make decisions as appropriate.
- Project manage strategic activities while maintaining focus on operational tasks.
- Conduct training on hardware and software applications.
- Provide excellent customer interaction/support.
- Follow documented processes and procedures.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS:

- Requires vision (which may be corrected) to read small print.
- Requires the mobility to stand, stoop, reach and bend. Requires mobility of arms to reach and dexterity of hands to grasp and manipulate small objects.

- Perform work which involves the frequent lifting, pushing and/or pulling of objects which may approximate 30 pounds and may occasionally weigh up to 50 pounds.
- Is subject to inside and outside environmental conditions.
- May be required to work around moving mechanical parts.
- May be required to work around electrical current.
REPORTS TO: Director of Technology and Innovation
EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated annually by the Director of Technology and Innovation in accordance with the provisions of Governing Board policy for evaluation of classified personnel.
TERMS OF
EMPLOYMENT: 12 Months
SALARY: Salary for the position is set according to the Classified Salary Schedule determined by the Governing Board.
