We are currently seeking a Systems Engineering Manager to join our team in Newport News, Virginia (US-VA), United States (US).

Job Summary:

We are currently seeking a Systems Engineering Manager with a background in Project Management to join our Delivery team in Newport News. This role will be part of a hybrid-agile delivery team supporting multiple separate projects within a customer portfolio. The ideal candidate will have strong technical skills including extensive experience with Active Directory (including GPO, DNS, and FSMO), SQL Clusters (including Windows Failover Clustering (WFC) and Always On Availability Groups (AOAG)), Load Balancing, SharePoint (including App servers, Web Front End servers, Distributed Cache, and Search), and knowledge of FISMA regulations, DISA STIGs, and Vulnerability Management Programs. The candidate may also function as a Scrum Master, though they will not delegate tasks, as all task assignments will be managed by the Scrum Master. This role requires excellent leadership skills and the ability to provide guidance and mentorship to team members.

This position requires a Department of Defense (DOD) 8570.01-M IAT Level II certification and Secret clearance.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Serve as the technical and people leader for system infrastructure projects, including the implementation and maintenance of Active Directory (including GPO, DNS, and FSMO), SQL Clusters (including Windows Failover Clustering (WFC) and Always On Availability Groups (AOAG)), Load Balancing, and SharePoint (including App servers, Web Front End servers, Distributed Cache, and Search).
  • Ensure system compliance with Federal Information Security Management Act (FISMA) regulations, Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs), and Vulnerability Management Programs.
  • Provide expert knowledge and support for all aspects of system and network configuration and management.
  • Participate in project planning and execution in a hybrid-agile environment, potentially assuming the role of Scrum Master as needed.
  • Coordinate with other IT team members and stakeholders, ensuring the successful completion of projects on time and within budget.
  • Perform routine system maintenance, troubleshooting, and problem resolution.
  • Document all system configurations, changes, and procedures to maintain an up-to-date knowledge base.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to team members, enhancing their understanding and skills in system engineering and management.

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, Engineering, or related field or equivalent combination of education and work experience
  • Department of Defense (DOD) 8570.01-M IAT Level II certification required
  • Current Secret clearance required
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in a Systems Engineering role with project management responsibilities, to include:
    • Minimum 8 years of experience with Active Directory, including Group Policy Objects (GPO), Domain Name System (DNS) management, and Flexible Single Master Operations (FSMO)
  • Minimum 1 year of experience managing complex IT projects and lead technical teams

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree preferred
  • Proficient in SQL Clusters, specifically with Windows Failover Clustering (WFC) and Always On Availability Groups (AOAG)
  • In-depth knowledge of SharePoint, including App servers, Web Front End servers, Distributed Cache, and Search components
  • Solid understanding of Federal Information Security Management Act (FISMA) regulations, Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs), and Vulnerability Management Programs
  • Experience with Agile and Scrum methodologies, Scrum Master experience is a plus
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Proficient in system documentation and record-keeping
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present complex technical information in a clear and understandable manner
