Overview

The Role: This role is involved in all aspects of financial information regarding taxes and compliance with local, state, and federal tax reporting obligations.

Salary: $70,000-$75,000 DOE

Key Accountabilities
  • Compliance
    • Preparing workpapers and annual tax returns for C-Corps, S-Corps, Partnerships and SMLLCs
    • Preparing monthly tax returns and assisting with quarterly REIT testing
    • Understanding and complying with state, local, and international statutes and legislation
    • Written and verbal communication with Federal and State tax agencies
    • Prepare tax memos to document tax positions, based on research for a specific transaction or new/pending legislation
    • Assist in the reconciliation of general ledger accounts, tax capital, and basis calculations
    • Developing and implementing process improvements
  • Investor Relations
    • Positive interaction and communication with executive team, various departments, and investment partners regarding operational concerns, forecasting, and tax planning.
    • Assist the team in creating and implementing systems that provide services to property management, community personnel, or investor partners.
Physical Demands & Working Conditions
  • The incumbent in this is classified as essential staff and is expected to report to work and adhere to all safety and business protocols.
  • Frequent sitting and walking
  • Travel within the region and to other business offices and events via airline, trains and automobiles
  • Repetitive use of computer, keyboard, mouse, and phone
  • Reading, comprehending, writing, performing calculations, communicating verbally
  • May work in an elevated site, may walk on uneven ground
  • Occasional squatting, bending neck/waist, twisting neck/waist, pushing, and pulling

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s in Accounting or Finance or related field, CPA Is a plus
  • 3+ years of experience in corporate finance or accounting
  • Knowledge of accounting principles, practices, standards, laws and regulations.
  • Must be experienced in and able to demonstrate proficiency with excel and accounting tax preparation software and tax research databases.
  • 3+ years of experience to analyze and synthesize large amounts of data and related compliance and regulations.
  • Must possess extensive skill level of the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Yardi, Internet and email knowledge.
  • Strong interpersonal skills as well as strong verbal and written communication skills required.
  • Ability to interact effectively with senior executives, departments, business vendors, and investor contacts as needed.
  • Ability to work well under time and other constraints.
  • Proof of Covid-19 Vaccination Is required to be employed by Avanath.
