Context
This position is a full-time position and will be based out of Dallas, Texas.
Objective
To continue IKOS’s growth and strengthen our team in the United States, we are recruiting a Test & Commissioning Signaling Engineer in USA with relevant experience in the railway sector keen to work on large-scale projects.
Responsibilities
- Supervising and participating in test and troubleshooting of signaling and train control equipment such as audio frequency track-circuits, Computer-Based Interlockings, switches, Automatic Train Control systems.
- Perform system test activities in the factory’s lab and in the field, such as breakdown tests, operational and system level tests for rail transit projets.
- Help writing documentation such test plans and test reports.
- Identify operational and technical problems and assist in practical solutions and improvements to system design when appropriate.
- Interface with customers, consultants and installation contractors, as needed.
- Act as Lead T&C engineer in directing other test personnel.
- Perform installation and testing of field modifications. This may be performed on "live" circuits and on new or existing equipment.
- Assist in the installation and test of factory and field modifications. This may be performed on "live" circuits and on new or existing equipment; Assist in the installation and adjustment of various signaling equipment (switch machine, trip stops, track circuits, code systems, Carborne etc).
- Accurately complete test documentation, data sheets, marking plans, expense reports, daily logs, lost time and discrepancy reports.
- Maintain location plans to reflect the "as installed or as tested" condition of locations under test.
- Must maintain highest regard for safety, fail safeness, system reliability and system integrity.
- Provides and develops accurate material lists for both internal and external requirements on projects.
Qualifications
Applicants for this position must have authorization to legally work in the U.S.
- You must hold a Bachelor and/or Master's degree in Science or Engineering field
- You must have work authorization for the United States
- You have at least 3+ years of previous experience in the industry, (energy or transportation sectors are an asset).
- You are a team player and ready to learn quick
- You have good communications skills
- Previous hands-on experience with test equipment (VOMs, DMMs, voltage meters, oscilloscopes, frequency counters, digital multimeters and signal generators)
- Working knowledge of transit signaling products and "vital" and "non-vital" circuit concepts
- Ability to cope with working at odd hours and/or extended shifts.
- Knowledge of Linux and/or Windows operating systems
- Knowledge of C++, Visual Basic, and/or Java programming languages
- Knowledge of software test tools such as Exceed, VMware, subversion
