What You'll Do
Day to day, you'll work directly with a stellar team to help us build core software components that enable our team to quickly build and deploy complex software. You will have the opportunity to proactively solve unique problems and build software and systems that act as force multipliers for our development teams.
In this role, being diligent, curious, and taking complete ownership of your code end-to-end with a clear sense of urgency, is essential.
- Partner with hardware and software engineering teams to determine appropriate computer and network hardware for a complex robotics application
- Lead the design and implementation of our process to configure computer and network hardware for large-scale production
- Support R&D efforts by ensuring that engineers have robust, reliable systems for development and testing
- Lead integration of our systems with mechatronic and electrical components—both third-party and in-house
What You'll Bring
- 5 plus years of experience focused on building and integrating complex hardware and software systems from inception to production
- Deep, hands-on experience working with Unix (Linux/BSD) administration
- Keen ability to review and write production code in one or more of the following languages: C, C++, Python, or Rust
- Scripting languages, such as Bash or Powershell
- Strong networking skills including the design of effective networks, configuring routers and switches, and debugging low-level networking and connectivity issues
- Experience evaluating and specifying server and computer hardware for a variety of applications. Broad knowledge of modern hardware platforms and effective system design with hardware components (ARM, x86, and accelerators such as CUDA and FPGA)
- Experience with automated server builds and deployments - especially automation tools such as Ansible, Puppet, or Chef, and experience building and deploying golden images at scale
- A serious passion for design and improvement of systems and processes; someone who looks at problems from all angles and comes up with clever solutions
- High emotional intelligence (EQ), you're aware of yourself and others
Nice-to-have, but not required
- Distributed systems and message queueing background
- Prior experience with configuration-as-code tools such as Packer, Ansible, Puppet, Chef, and Terraform
- Experience with low-power or resource constrained system and real time OS's such as QNX
- Familiarity with ROS2 platform
