Senator Sherrod Brown seeks a full-time Systems Administrator or IT Coordinator (title TBD based on level of experience) for a fast-paced office. Candidates must have strong written and oral communication skills, be detail-oriented, proactive, resourceful, able to work independently, and have strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks and projects. Experience supporting hardware including Windows and Mac laptops, iPhones, and other smart phones, as well as printers and servers, is required. It is helpful to be familiar with using and troubleshooting commercial software, including: Microsoft 365 apps (including Teams, OneDrive, and Forms), AirWatch, Zoom, Webex, Privileged Access Management, and Active Roles Console. Responsibilities include: rapid response to technology issues from the Senator, staff, and interns; providing support related to IT systems and portable electronic devices; user and account management; managing office equipment inventory databases; and other duties as assigned. Ideal candidate will demonstrate a proven ability to triage challenging problems, under pressure and at a distance.

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Experience editing with an attention to detail.
  • A sharp eye for organizational bottlenecks and creative solutions.
  • A habit of digging into problems until the root cause is identified.
  • An ability to “manage up” and get what the team needs from busy supervisors.
  • The ability to recognize opportunities for delegating tasks.
  • An understanding of the purpose of constituent management software and ability to learn systems quickly.

This position is based in the Washington, D.C. office, but will also support all state offices and state-based staff and interns, and will require occasional travel.
