Systems Administrator Job at Oklahoma State University Foundation

DEPARTMENT PURPOSE: The OSU Foundation Technology Services and Security department provides secure, reliable and innovative technology solutions and services to the Oklahoma State University community in order to maximize its strategic fundraising capabilities.
PRIMARY PURPOSE: The Systems Administrator is responsible for managing the security, availability, and performance of OSU Foundation information systems and cloud services needed to support fundraising for Oklahoma State University.
KEY AREAS OF FOCUS:
Maintain Operational Processes-
- Secure information systems to ensure that access is available only to individuals with authorization, that data cannot be altered without appropriate approval, and that current patches and policies are applied to all systems and services.
- Provide administration, monitoring, and backup of all directories, security systems, networks, storage systems, communication systems, applications, appliances, and servers to ensure that information availability is maximized.
- Diagnose system performance issues and apply corrective changes or recommend new solutions to improve performance.
- Provide support for critical security and service incidents at all times.
- Automate common administration and support tasks using tools such as scripts, workflows, and policies to increase efficiency and lower time spent on repetitive tasks.
- Mentor Desktop Support Specialist.
- Perform on-site and remote desktop support duties during staff absences and periods of high support demand.
Service Implementation-
- Implement new projects designed by Technology Services and Security engineering staff.
- Produce and maintain documentation for new and existing services and processes.
- Research and recommend improvements to or replacements for existing services and processes.
Other duties as assigned.
JOB COMPETENCIES AND EXPERIENCE:
Education & Certifications-
- BA/BS in Information Systems, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a bachelor’s degree in a related field.
Experience-
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in an information systems position required.
- Office 365, Windows Server, and Windows 10 administration experience required.
- Familiarity with Powershell or other scripting languages.
- Azure, Okta, Teams, VMware, KACE, Linux, and MacOS experience preferred.
- Experience with Cisco and Meraki servers, routers, switches, wireless access points, and phone systems preferred.
- Strong understanding of the operation and maintenance of cloud systems, networks, security, servers, storage, and communications systems.
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities and collaborate with team members in support of departmental and organizational objectives.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Attention to detail.
- Ability to maintain a professional and courteous demeanor at all times.
- Proven sense of humor and ability to have fun.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Must use a computer terminal and view a computer screen for extended periods of time. Must talk in person or by phone (frequently and sometimes for extended periods) to people on campus and across the country. Must be able to lift and move devices weighing up to 50lbs and be prepared to work under desks to install computers. Must constantly use visual acuity to check printed and designed materials of various types. Must be able to navigate within the OSU Foundation. Typical office working conditions.
