SUPERVISORY RECREATION SPECIALIST ARTS & CRAFTS CENTER Job at US Air Mobility Command
Duties
Directs or performs special studies and analysis designed to resolve operational problems. Coordinates with base agencies; i.e., safety, civil engineers, and environment to resolve problems and increased program safety. Maintains a regular schedule of preventive maintenance and replacement of equipment and supplies. Develops/executes procedure to regularly evaluate program effectiveness and risk management. Ensures personnel are trained and able to promote safety to all customers and patrons using hazardous equipment. Does periodic safety checks of equipment, employees, and patrons. Ensures the employees are acculturated to the Air Force base unit, and activity mission. Provides a regular schedule of employee training. Oversees ceramic program. Monitors personnel or contract staff to ensure that customer demands are being met in a cost-effective manner. Oversees the Awards and Plaques Shop. Supervises personnel, verifies daily clean up, and safety inspections are performed. Conducts periodic surprise safety inspections and makes sure all safety equipment is available to all using the Arts & Crafts shops. Oversees the Auto Hobby program. Supervises the Auto Hobby, Supervisory Recreation Assistant and ensures the operation is meeting instructional goals. Inspects for cleanliness and safety requirements on a periodic basis. Monitors in the car wash operation. Oversees Frame Shop. Supervises employees and make sure custom framing orders are being processed in a timely manner. Monitors shop for safety and cleanliness requirements. Provides classes and self-directed activities. Publicizes classes and monitors all instructors' contracted or direct staff. Ensures classroom space and supplies are available to effectively conduct classes. Monitors proper hazardous materials/waste collection, storage, and disposal. Attends basic training and meetings pertaining to the latest updates on waste management and disposal. Pre-inspects facility for compliance on a regular basis. Operates resale activity. Maintains the appropriate cost of goods on all resale items. Determines which is dead stock and takes appropriate action to rid the resale activity of "old" items. Surveys industry and customer base to determine needs and current trends are being well merchandised to effectively make a profit in the resale activity. Provides demonstration of new materials and conducts classes to promote sales. Develops strategic and financial plans. Oversees Wood Working Shop. Monitors and schedules safety training on a reoccurring basis to ensure customers are knowledgeable in woodworking equipment and safety standards. Assesses resource requirements and determines staffing needs. Manages personnel in appropriate areas. Advises supervisor of staffing needs and administers a volunteer program. Writes and evaluates position guides and descriptions. Develops operating goals and objectives which include marketing and program plan on an annual basis. Uses survey data to obtain optimum programming and goals for each sector of the activity. Evaluates results of operations and take corrective action. Seeks assistance from outside agencies when required to correct issues. Develops and executes Strategic Marketing Plans. Uses customer feedback and comment cards to develop annual survey. Performs, evaluates, and interprets market analysis. Prepares activity-marketing plan with marketing director. Provides feedback to supervisors, employees, flight chiefs, and commander. Tracks results and takes corrective action as required. Provides Quality Customer Service. Positively interacts with all customers (e.g. greets and offers assistance). Resolves customer complaints and problems. Informs flight chief of any major customer problems and concerns. Implements funds control and handling functions. Works with the Resource Management Flight Chief to ensure internal controls are monitored. Performs regular surprise cash and inventory audits as required. Ensures sufficient resources are available to meet requirements. Ensures adequate resource protection. Works directly for the Community Support Flight Chief.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Qualifying Experience:
Experience that demonstrates the ability to apply principles, methods, and techniques of recreation, and an understanding of the interests of individuals or groups. SPECIALIZED: Planning, organizing, coordinating, supervising, or evaluating community, industrial, institutional, or other skills development programs. Instructing in the principles and mechanics of recreational program planning and management. Serving in a leadership role in the programs and activities of local, regional, and/or national recreational organizations. EDUCATION: Undergraduate or graduate major study of general recreation, or one of the appropriate fields of arts and crafts or at least 1 year experience equivalent to at least the GS-07/NF-III level. Must be able to satisfactorily complete a National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI). Must be able to exert light physical effort in reaching, bending, turning, or moving hands, feet, and legs to operate hand and foot controls. Must be able to satisfactorily complete a pre-employment physical. "This is a drug testing designated position. The incumbent is subject to random testing for drug use." Must possess a valid driver's license.
Education
EDUCATION: Undergraduate or graduate major study of general recreation, or one of the appropriate fields of arts and crafts or at least 1 year experience equivalent to at least the GS-07/NF-III level.
FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program. It is your responsibility to provide such evidence when applying.
