Supervisor-Shipping Job at S & C Electric Company
In this job you will provide direction and supervision for the Shipping operations for all product shipments out of S&C Chicago facilities. This position reports to the Manager – Internal Logistics
The focus will be on meeting departmental expectations relating to safety, quality, on time delivery, productivity, and cost. The duties of this position will require constant attention to detail, good problem-solving skills, strong knowledge of Oracle functions, Excel, KPI tracking and team member development. Excellent communication skills, strong organizational skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment are required.
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Providing and monitoring training in areas such as organizing stock, selecting/packing/processing product through Oracle/UPS, safe forklift navigation, spotting and loading trucks efficiently, along with supporting safety and departmental policies and procedures.
- Monitoring and responding appropriately to changing workloads, customer emergencies, and production schedules while setting and maintaining high levels of quality.
- Writing and conducting departmental employee performance reviews and development plans along with making decisions regarding hires, promotions, corrective action (using Job Relations), and terminations.
- Participating in planning, setting, and achieving department goals and objectives while driving problem solving and continuous improvement.
- Planning, organizing, and conducting departmental and shift team meetings, along with regular KPI report outs and working with suppliers to ensure materials and supplies are ordered and available as required.
To select this job as one of interest to you, at a minimum, you must have the following:
- Demonstrated good technical, analytical and problem-solving skills with KPI attainment.
- Strong PC skills with Oracle experience
1 to 3 years in a leadership role. Demonstrated high regard for people and ability to support S&Cs policies and procedures. Experience in a warehouse, shipping, receiving and material distribution department.

Pulling: Occasional pulling of items ranging in weight from 5 to 50 lbs.
Bending: Occasional bending to retrieve or place items ranging in weight from 5 to 50 lbs.
Reaching: Occasional reaching for items ranging in weight from 5 to 50 lbs.
Handling: Occasional handling of parts and hand tools ranging in weight from 5 to 50 lbs.
Other: Occasional Use of Forklift.
