POSITION SUMMARY:

  • In collaboration with, and reporting to, The Summer Program Coordinator is responsible for scheduling counselors, program design, curriculum development, special events planning, attendance management and program evaluation.
Requirements:


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Responsible for scheduling of all Traditional Camp counselors.
  • Responsible for providing feedback to counselors as it relates to skill class development.
  • Plans and executes an innovative, engaging and age appropriate Camp program.
  • Overseas an effective and fair skill class sign-up process for campers. Is avalibale and receptive to skill class changes as needed.
  • Responsible for staff skill class schedules. Works to ensure staff are assigned to the appropriate area based on skill level and passion.
  • Actively supervises staff throughout the day and is present throughout the day.
  • Plans and executes an engaging and age appropriate special event each session, gaining buy in from the staff team prior to execution.
  • Organization of daily amphitheater events and special activities.
  • Responsible for theme day organization and communication.
  • Assists with supervision of Program Leads.
  • Assists with ensuring program quality and exection across all program areas.
  • Assists with the ordering of supplies for each program area.
  • Ensures that program areas and equipment are maintained to a high standard. Communicates needs in a timely manner to the Assistant Camp Director.
  • Ability to remain calm during an emergency.
  • Assist with special events and summer fundraising campaigns.
  • Builds positive relationships with campers, parents, caregivers, counselors and other senior staff to leverage Camp Lincoln’s position and provide a high level experience to all.
  • Provides effective and timely communication to the Assistant Camp Director.

QUALIFICATIONS AND KNOW HOW:

  • Minimum of 3 years leadership and childcare experience.
  • A passion for leadership development and coaching.
  • Teaching, facilitating, teambuilding experience preferred.
  • Supervisory and staff development experience.
  • Administrative experience; ability to communicate verbally (in-person and on phone) and in writing is essential.
  • Personnel values consistent with the YMCA mission and core values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility.
  • Strong working knowledge of computers and all common programs such as Word and Excel.
  • Ability to effectively delegate responsibilities to others and support them in their endeavors as necessary.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • CPR/First Aid Certification.

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Ability to walk and stand for long periods of time.
  • Must be able to lift and carry supplies weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to stand or sit while maintaining alertness for several hours at a time.
  • Position may require bending, leaning, kneeling, and walking.
  • Ability to speak concisely and effectively communicate.
  • Visual and auditory ability to respond to critical situations and physical ability to act swiftly in an emergency
