Job Summary


We are now hiring for a Student Services Analyst within the Financial Aid department that will coordinate, administer, and implement programs such as, but not limited to: Default Prevention, Financial Literacy and Financial Aid Outreach in both Clock and Credit environments. This person will also assist with the operational, personnel, and financial functions within the Financial Aid office as assigned; provides high quality customer assistance, project leadership on special projects as directed; and supports the administration of federal, state, institution, and private financial aid programs to students.

Essential Functions


25% - Acts as a team lead overseeing the administration and management of the Financial Aid Outreach team. Participates in planning and implementing college-wide recruitment events. Oversees targeted outreach activities through phone and text campaigns and emails to students. Acts as a representative of the financial aid office at orientations, career fairs, etc.

25% - Creates, manages and conducts financial aid orientation and presentations, financial literacy seminars, events and workshops. Researches, designs and implements best practices for the management of financial literacy, student loan borrowing to assure lowest possible default rates and general financial success of current and former students.

15% - Coordinates and administrates the Financial Aid office, ensures adherence to state, federal and institutional regulations and guidelines as appropriate.

15% - Provides program and policy advisement on financial aid processes to students and parents; discusses problems with appropriate administrators or professional staff persons and seeks solutions within the framework of established policies and regulations.

10% - Maintains current knowledge of federal Title IV regulations, state rules and institutional policies pertaining to financial aid program requirements criteria to evaluate and determine eligibility; and/or evaluates policy to determine and ensure program compliance.

10% - Performs other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications


Bachelor’s Degree from a regionally accredited institution and two (2) years of student services or college teaching experience, or experience coordinating, administering, planning, or evaluating programs.

OR

Associate's Degree from a regionally accredited institution and four (4) years of student services or college teaching experience, or experience coordinating, administering, planning, or evaluating programs.

OR

High School Diploma or GED from a regionally accredited institution and six (6) years of student services or college teaching experience, or experience coordinating, administering, planning, or evaluating programs.

Desired Qualifications


A. Experience awarding and disbursing aid in a financial aid office.

B. Experience with PeopleSoft Student Information System (SIS).

C. Experience analyzing and interpreting financial aid policies, practices, procedures, regulations, and guidelines.

D. Experience developing presentations and/or facilitating staff training.

E. Experience coordinating projects and/or activities in student services

Special Working Conditions


  • Will be required to travel or be assigned to all GateWay locations
  • May require some evenings or weekends
  • May require prolonged periods of viewing a computer screen
  • Must be in good standing and not be in default of a student loan, or in overpayment of student grant assistance
  • May be required to lift or carry up to #25 lbs
  • MCCCD does not sponsor individuals for any type of work visas
  • Financial Aid positions: In order to perform work in the GWCC Financial Aid Department candidates cannot owe a repayment or be in default on any federal funds
  • Per Title IV Federal Regulations, applicants for this position may not be a member of a person's family (parent, sibling, spouse, child, spouse's parent or sibling, or sibling's or child's spouse) who works in the GWCC Cashier's Department.
