JOB SUMMARY: This position is responsible for providing instructional support to students in obtaining their GED and to assist the GED Coordinator with testing procedures, the Attendance Initiative in reducing dropouts and track progress of students in compliance with state requirements.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Essential duties of this position include the following. Employees in this position perform some or all of the following tasks. Other related duties may be assigned.
Follows and maintains knowledge of applicable District policy(ies) and procedures.- Monitors and tracks student attendance, detentions and suspensions.
- Contacts and sets-up appointments for teen parents.
- Reports students not attending school to police department.
- Circulates and corrects credit make-up packets to students.
- Pre-tests and assigns GED placement.
- Serves as a liaison for students and parents/guardians for outside resources.
- Refers student and parents to community agencies for services.
- Participates effectively at regular team meetings with teacher and other support staff using appropriate social skills.
- Tests and evaluates students’ abilities and progress as directed by teacher.
- Assists the teacher in developing educational materials (copying, typing, laminating, etc.)
- Supervises and assists students with computer use.
- Assists students, individually or in groups, with lesson assignments.
- Monitors and assists students as needed.
- Prepares breakfast and/or lunch as required for students.
- Models appropriate behavior in various social settings.
- Maintains safe environment for students at all times and monitors and assists students as needed.
- Reports safety, sanitary and fire hazards immediately to supervisor.
- Interacts thoughtfully and courteously with students, staff and parents and resolves conflict in a professional manner.
- Appropriately maintains and secures confidential records and inquiries.
- Professionally represents the school and the District in interactions with parents, community, staff, and students.
- Maintains appropriate certifications and training hours as required.
- Attends work regularly and is punctual.

High School Diploma or GED required
Note: Two (2) years of college coursework or Associate's Degree (May be waived pending successful performance on skills test administered by the District)
