Details
The Institute for Vision Research is seeking a Student Lab Assistant to support the Budd Tucker, PhD Lab (Budd Tucker | The University of Iowa Institute for Vision Research (uiowa.edu) (https://ivr.uiowa.edu/faculty/tucker)) in a variety of roles including general lab upkeep, research, etc.. Relevant duties include:
General Lab Upkeep
- Washing and autoclaving dishes
- Inventory and restock supplies
- Remove full biohazard/sharps containers and pick up replacement containers
- Run to Biochemistry Store and Biomedical Research Store to pick up items as needed
- Defrost freezers
- Perform other lab tasks as assigned
Research
- Assist lab personnel in research projects.
- Section and stain frozen and paraffin embedded tissue samples
- Fabricate cell sorting devices
- Assist with cell sorting experiments
- Perform microscopic image analysis using software suites such as ImageJ.
Work Schedule: Flexible.
Approximate Hours Per Week: 10-20 hours
Pay rate: $14/hour
