Student Assistant - University Union - Print Shop Attendant Job at University Enterprises, Inc.
The University Union and The WELL are seeking to hire two students to be a part of a creative team to work in their studio, The Lab. The students are responsible for the printing and producing a wide range of marketing collateral such as posters, banners, passes, buttons, advertisements, etc., for the various programs and departments that are part of Union WELL, Inc. These students will also be responsible for scheduling, distributing, and maintaining the printed marketing collateral around the Union and WELL. This position works closely with both part-time and full-time staff and will be interacting with the campus community often.
Conditions of Employment
This is a part-time, temporary, non-benefited, student position. Employment in all positions with University Enterprises, Inc. is dependent upon the mutual consent of University Enterprises, Inc. and the employee. This means that either University Enterprises, Inc. or the employee can, at any time, terminate the employment relationship at will, with or without cause.
Depending on the type of position you are applying for, a pre-employment background check consisting of one or more of the following may be conducted: employment history, professional references, criminal check, educational verification (degree, license, or official transcript), or driver clearance. Applicants will be required to pass required pre-employment checks to the satisfaction of University Enterprises, Inc. (UEI) and the hiring Agency or Department.
UEI does not allow employees to hold more than one UEI Job at a time, or work in more than one college or center per pay period. UEI employees who are considering leaving their current UEI Student assistant position for a different UEI student assistant positing should inform their supervisor in writing and provide at least a week’s notice.
Prerequisites
Students working at the University Union or The WELL must be attending classes at Sacramento State during the regular term (Fall, Spring), and enrolled in a minimum of nine (9) semester units for undergraduate students or six (6) semester units for graduate students.

Additional Work Schedule
Student Assistant and Graduate Assistant employees generally work up to 20 hours per work week (Sunday – Saturday) during the academic year and up to 40 hours per work week during breaks; (winter, spring & summer).
Minimum Qualifications
- Majoring in a design field (graphic or interior).
- Experience with Adobe Creative Suite.
- Experience with Microsoft Office.
- Demonstrated experience working on a Mac.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a high-pressure situation.
- Professional level of organizational skills.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Solid computer/technical skills.
- Ability to prioritize.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Self-motivated.
- Demonstrated ability to multi-task, take directions, and work in a team environment.
- Must be able to lift 25 pounds.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Attend to the needs of our graphic design staff.
- Prepare and set up files printing.
- Review, prioritize, and handle print requests.
- Deliver print projects within established time frames.
- Plan and coordinate timely distribution of printed materials for all Union WELL, Inc. programs and services.
- Communicate with design staff, as necessary, to ensure proper timing of campus distribution.
- Responsible for maintaining the quality or printed materials and replace as needed.
- Mount printed materials to foam core.
- Assist with production within the office.
- Operate button and binding machines, as well as a laminator.
- Assist with small design projects.
- Work closely with creative team on a diverse range of print projects.
- Maintain a log of all printed projects.
- Assist with keeping the print shop neat and professional looking.
- Assist in tracking inventory of supplies.
- Responsible for minor maintenance of printers by solving paper jams and replacing toner cartridges.
- Screen telephone calls and receive visitors.
- Determine the nature of the call/visitor and whether or not the call/visit can be handled personally or must be referred.
- Assist with special projects assigned by the Design, Identity, and Studio Manager and Union's Assistant Director for Programs and Marketing.
Physical Requirements
Sit for extended periods; frequently stand and walk; manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination; corrected hearing and vision to normal range; verbal communication; use of office equipment including computer workstations, telephones, calculators, copiers, printers, and scanners with or without a reasonable accommodation.
Working Conditions
Work is performed either in a gym or office environment or a combination of the two. Continuous contact with staff and patrons. Frequent contact with the campus community and the public.
