Job Summary
Administers the reimbursement process for state, county, and/or city programs. Ensures agency compliance with funding source rules and regulations. Supports the accounts payable and payroll functions.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
(In addition to the following, other duties may be assigned)
Prepares monthly, quarterly and year-end accounting statements and reports.
Provides financial data for budget development, periodic reports and for other reporting requirements.
Prepares and processes required journal entries.
Analyzes, reconciles, balances and maintains accounting records.
Monitors, analyzes and reviews expenditures, ensuring compliance with fiscal accountability, reporting and funding requirements.
Documents accounting procedures/processes to ensure acceptable accounting practices.
Provides support with the payroll processing functions.
Provides technical assistance and guidance to department personnel.
Interacts with and provides financial information to agency personnel and funding source personnel.
Prepares audit work papers and assists independent auditors with the year-end audit.
Provides support with the payroll processing functions.

Required Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.
Education and/or Experience
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or in a related field is required. Two to four years’ experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified. Knowledge of standard and/or fund accounting principles, methods and applications. Knowledge of computerized information systems used in financial and/or accounting applications. Ability to setup and maintain financial accounts and ledgers. Spreadsheet software skills for use in developing routine financial reports, statements, projections, etc. Ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports, statements, projections, etc. Account balancing and reconciling skills.
Language Skills
Ability to read, analyze and interpret professional journals and government regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from co-workers and clients.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, proportions, percentages, area and volume. Ability to apply mathematical concepts to practical situations.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables.
Mental Fitness
Ability to focus, make clear decisions, use judgement, be stable and can control emotions—remain calm under adversity, ability to handle stress, be able to remain calm and professional in the face of challenging behaviors.
Technology Skills
Basic technology skills which include: word processing skills; spreadsheet skills; database skills; electronic presentation skills; web navigation skills; web site design skills; email management skills; computer network knowledge applicable to your department’s systems

40 hours/week, generally Monday-Friday, with some evening/weekend work required.
