Ophthalmic Consultants of Boston (OCB) was established in 1969 to offer patients the highest quality eye care and laser/surgical treatment. OCB recently joined forces with Eye Health Services to become the premier eye care provider in the region with nineteen practice locations in the greater Boston area and Cape Cod. In addition, OCB has five affiliated surgery and laser centers. OCB and its affiliates employ 700+ employees. Ophthalmic Consultants of Boston (OCB) is seeking a Staff Accountant to join our Finance team at our Waltham location.

Responsibilities include:

  • Preparing monthly general and standard journal entries, financial statements and comparative reports, account reconciliations, and bank reconciliations on a timely basis.
  • Preparing complex monthly payroll allocations and posting the associated journal entries to general ledger system.
  • Ongoing reconciliation of cash with billing system.
  • Maintaining and reviewing cost centers and appropriation accounts, including trial balances to verify accuracy with coding, classification and posting.
  • Fixed asset accounting.
  • Intercompany accounting.
  • Preparing cash flow projections.
  • Preparing monthly and annual spreadsheet analyses, as assigned.
  • Participating in professional development activities.
  • Maintaining strictest confidentiality.

Requirements are:

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting.
  • One to three years of accounting experience.
  • Knowledge of accounting theory, principles and practices to identify and describe accounting systems and subsystems.
  • Knowledge of budgeting and cost accounting principles.
  • Knowledge of research techniques to analyze data and make recommendations.
  • Proficient in computer information systems to present financial information.
  • Ability to analyze financial reports; prepare statistical and narrative accounting reports; perform mathematical computations accurately and quickly.
  • Ability to identify and compute ratios and percentages.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and work effectively as part of a team.
  • Covid Vaccine. Must provide Vaccination card prior to start.
