SRNS’ NNSA Operations & Programs operates the Savannah River Tritium Enterprise, the nation’s only facilities for extracting, recycling, purifying and reloading tritium, a radioactive isotope of hydrogen that is a key element of modern nuclear weapons. SRTE supports five tritium and gas transfer system-related missions on behalf of NNSA: tritium supply, stockpile maintenance, stockpile evaluation, helium-3 recovery, and research and development (R&D).

Directs all activities for a business function for Site Integration. Recommends site policy and often must engage site senior staff (SRNS President, Executive VPs, and VPs) as well as DOE Senior Staff (Site Manager & Direct Reports, Assistant Managers) with respect to overall management of major business issues. Sometimes called upon to represent vice-president and assist with vice-president’s duties and responsibilities.

Major Responsibilities
1. Directs and controls the activities of a functional area through senior level managers who have overall responsibility for the successful operation of those assigned areas.
2. Acts independently, restricted by only policies and objectives. Decisions have a direct effect on the success or the failure of the company in meeting its overall long term objectives.
3. Develops and implements both short and long term business strategies that contribute to the success of the company.
4. Acts on behalf of Vice President in their absence including all senior staff level responsibilities and functions.
5. Establishes effective mentoring process for subordinate managers / staff members to insure that succession planning is effectively implemented.
6. Establish overall budget requirements and allocate direct staffing and budget to senior level managers who will be held directly responsible for their effective use of these resources.
7. Effectively executes scope within established policies and procedures and maintain compliance with all State and Federal laws and regulations.
8. Direct and negotiate the development of Service Level Agreements and Memorandums of Understanding and Agreement with other site entities as needed.
9. Establish effective collaboration and cooperation among SRS tenants (SRNS, SRR, SWPF, USFS, MOX, PDCF, SREL, WSI, US Army, etc.) and Complex-wide contractors to develop and implement program and policy improvements by introducing innovative approaches to fully exploit available resources and reduce the costs without detriment to performance and standards/requirements.

Bachelor degree

Ability to obtain and maintain a Q level security clearance.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master degree preferred.
  • Related experience primarily in the area of management.
  • Demonstrated leadership in directing multi-disciplined organizations.
  • Demonstrated experience in application of innovative concepts to solve complex problems.
  • Demonstrated ability to implement change at a senior level.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to influence audiences at a wide range of levels, including senior company management and senior DOE management.
  • Direct experience with matrix management and influencing through indirect leadership
  • Business acumen and business strategy expertise to make and/or recommend business decisions-integrative thinker with demonstrated ability to solve complex, multifaceted problems with due consideration for business and strategic consequences.
  • Financial savvy and politically astute leader with the ability to set clear priorities, delegate, and guide investment in personnel and systems; keen analytic, organization, and problem-solving skills which supports and enable sound decision making.
  • Previous experience working in a nuclear or hazardous chemical environment.
