Role Summary

The role oversees all customer relationships – existing and prospective – for access to Electrify America’s public ultra-fast DC charging network. This role, together with the department this role oversees, is responsible to attract, secure, implement, maintain, and renew all B2B contracts for public network utilization, the Number 1 source of revenue for Electrify America. In pursuit of his/her group’s mission to secure revenue from OEM and fleet customers, this role has responsibility for a team of about 6 FTE and 1 contracted resource.

This role directs and structures his/her team to effectively cover the following key aspects of business development: 1) Go to market strategy development 2) Pre-sales efforts to win business; 3) auto OEM and fleet program implementation of MSP, embedded energy, and app related services; 4) auto OEM lab testing coordination; network performance issue resolution; media and test drive facilitation; 5) Life-cycle account management including account maintenance and renewal activities; 6) Management of executive relationships with key auto OEM’s, TNC’s and fleet customers.

This role represents Electrify America at public and industry events, with media, and builds relationships to position Electrify America positively with customers and other stakeholders.

This role regularly interacts with other team leaders, directors and executive leadership. He/she possesses strong communication, collaboration and selling skills, overcoming internal and external hurdles, in order to develop solutions that create measurable value for the paying customer.

Main responsibilities

  • Manage sales team to Oversees pre-sales efforts to win business assigning and supporting team members to pitch to customers, respond to tenders, negotiate contracts, and secure work (40%)
  • Oversees OEM and fleet program implementations post-contract directing assigned team members in their effort to ensure the successful launch of an OEM or fleet program together with the tech team, marketing, contact center, finance etc. (20%)
  • Implements, monitors, and optimizes business processes and tools used by the department to effectively carry out the department’s missions, achieve KPIs, increase productivity etc. (20%)
  • Oversees other departmental functions ensuring that assigned team members effectively coordinate OEM testing, network performance support, media and test drives, and account management activities (10%)
  • Manage BD staff of about seven resources to form a cohesive, motivated, mission-oriented team that achieves the objectives set for the department (10%)


Qualifications

  • 10-15 years minimum directly relevant industry experience

Education

  • Required - Bachelor’s degree
  • Desired - Master’s degree (preferably MBA)

Skills

  • 10-15 years in technical sales, business development, or closely related roles
  • Demonstrated leadership, high initiative, & results driven approach in past work assignments that has directly led to new contracts and revenue
  • Strong strategic, conceptual thinking and ability to create business solutions
  • Influencing and negotiation skills including with customer C-suite to secure contracts

Specialized Skills

Required

  • Comfortable selling complex technical solutions
  • Relentless focus on customer needs and cross-departmental internal customer advocacy
  • Experience in the assessment and management of opportunities incl. RFIs, RFPs, BAFOs etc.
  • Knowledgeable about the sales forecasting process and associated tools
  • Comfortable with a KPI driven approach to sales and customer satisfaction
  • Ability to navigate effectively own organization including executive mgt. and other important stakeholders
  • People management experience of remote and co-located team members
  • Basic knowledge of contract law and comfortable actively supporting Legal during redline process
  • Competent at representing the organization externally at speaking engagements with media and customers, at events etc.

Desired

  • Strong understanding of EV charging ecosystem (customer market segments, competitors, manufacturers, etc.)
  • Strong network of professional relationships across the industries referenced, and positive reputation

Work Flexibility

  • Estimated travel needs between 20-35% to build and maintain customer relationships in pursuit of contracts and revenue.

Salary range is dependent on factors such as geographical differentials, industry-based experience, skills, training, credentials, and other qualifications.
In the state of California, the salary range is $128,400 - $196,000.
In the state of Colorado, the salary range is $116,700 - $178,200.
In the state of Washington, the salary range is $128,400 - $196,000.
In New York City, the salary range is $140,000 - $213,800.
In Westchester County, the salary range is $140,000 - $213,800.
In the state of Rhode Island, the salary range is $116,700 - $178,200.
