Essential Job Functions

• Drives improvements in performance metrics (On-Time Ship, Primary tender acceptance, etc.) through root cause analysis and corrective action implementation to meet customer expectations and ensure transportation efficiencies.
• Achieve transportation operating plan goals through management of cost/service performance metrics.
• Develop, document, and execute a comprehensive transportation plan to drive optimal customer service and profitability across the business, incorporating transportation and vendor relations as well as strategic feedback to company management.
• Evaluate and review the company’s logistics operations business practices, update and develop process documentation, streamline opportunities, and eliminate non-value-added activities.
• Direct investigations to verify and resolve customer or shipper questions or issues.
• Provide expertise and capacity to rapidly assess and address emerging business issues as they arise.
• Monitors carrier performance levels, recommends improvements or service enhancements, and makes corrective actions to resolve issues.
• Ensure the existence, maintenance, and functioning of an adequate system of internal controls in all functional areas of the Transportation department.
• Collaborates with OTM team to drive system and planner efficiencies.
• Provide knowledge and understanding of asset-based fleet management operations, import & export operations, and import compliance with an understanding of DOT and other regulatory agency compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain or related is preferred however we will consider at least 10 years equivalent experience in lieu of degree
• 7+ years supply chain operations and transportation management experience
• LTL, FTL a must
• Project and Action Plan Management
• Demonstrated communication, collaboration, and leadership skills. Ability to influence within multiple levels of the organization
• Must have experience leading a team of Transportation Planners
• Transportation Management System experience –Oracle Transportation Management (OTM) experience ideal
• Experience in an ERP system – JD Edwards or SAP ideal
• Strong Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
