Minimum Qualifications
Registered dietitian with Bachelor’s degree and 1-2 years sports nutrition experience. Knowledge of NCAA rules regarding dietary supplements and third-party certifications. Use of language and tools that foster a health body image environment. Must possess a valid driver’s license and a driving record suitable to the University’s insurance carrier.

Position Purpose
Oakland University Athletics is a Division I program committed to academic and athletic excellence. Our Athletic Department is looking for a highly organized, driven and detail oriented individual to fill the position of Sports Dietitian. The Sports Dietitian reports directly to the Associate Athletic Director for Student Athlete Experience.

The Sports Dietitian will be responsible for assisting all varsity sports programs with sport nutrition needs, working in conjunction with Sports Medicine and Strength and Conditioning. This position should have a knowledge of NCAA rules as it pertains to assigned job duties and the scope of employment. In addition, the individual will be responsible for obtaining proper guidance or approval from Athletics Compliance prior to participating in select activities, as defined by NCAA bylaws or institutional policies.

Job Duties
  • Conduct 1:1 nutrition assessment and provide follow-up with DI student athletes on topics including but not limited to: performance enhancement, hydration, weight gain, weight loss/body composition changes, safe supplementation, blood work, injury prevention and healing, campus dining, travel, food allergies/sensitivities, and disordered eating behaviors;
  • Conduct sport-specific team nutrition education sessions;
  • Manage product ordering, inventory, and budgeting for student-athlete fueling station and the men’s basketball fueling station, including collaboration and communication with the strength and conditioning staff and team managers;
  • Communicate consistently with athletic trainers and members of the sports medicine and strength and conditioning departments.
  • Abide by NCAA, Conference, and University rules, regulations, procedures.
