The Speech Language Pathologist provides speech therapy services to designated clients under various funding sources with support from the Program/Executive Director and/or Clinic Director according to diagnoses and client needs in order to achieve speech therapy goals and improve overall speech functioning. The Speech Language Pathologist role will be supporting ChanceLight’s mission and partnership with clients and their families.

Job Responsibilities

  • Evaluates children to determine Speech Therapy needs and level of service.
  • Plans and implements appropriate individualized speech therapy programs for each child in based on treatment plan goals developed with parents.
  • Monitor services and provide progress information that will enable each child to develop their personal goals, preferences and needs.
  • Employs speech therapy strategies and techniques during sessions to improve the development of speech and communication skills, receptive and expressive language, cognition, and memory and to meet the individual age-appropriate needs of each child in their natural environment.
  • Writes periodic review of progress, updates treatment team, and makes any necessary changes in services for assigned children.
  • Maintains case records according to agency policy and state regulations and familiarizes self with child’s record.
  • Maintain and complete authorized written session documentation.
  • Complete billing session documentation completely and accurately within 24 hours of client visit.
  • Maintain effective communication with families regarding scheduling sessions and make up sessions.
  • Maintains contact with parents and related service providers to help share activities necessary to implement carryover of speech and communication goals and overall development of the child.
  • Participates in team meetings and conferences as indicated.
  • Liaisons with other professionals such as, social workers, speech, occupational, physical therapists, physiotherapists and educational psychologists.

Job Requirements

  • Master’s Degree and certification/licensure as a Speech Language Pathologist. Meets Company and funding source requirements for provision of speech therapy services.
  • Work with the team to conduct and/or oversee clinical assessments and treatment program recommendations.
  • Ensures the initial client intake is conducted in a timely manner.
