  • Coordinate and provide direct services, which include play therapy, parent/staff consultations, therapy groups, etc., in the Early Childhood Program Birth to 5 in the area of Mental Health/Disabilities services and observe and identify the behavioral an social/emotional needs of children & families.

  • Demonstrate methods of behavioral prevention, intervention and de-escalation for staff, children, parents and families.

  • Understand and implement program’s School Readiness Plan, inclusive of activities to support the Parent, Family & Community Engagement goals and outcomes.

  • Review and monitor individual child records and documentation to assure services meet the requirements and are comprehensive, appropriate and delivered within the established time lines.

  • Plan, arrange, coordinate and or provide workshops, seminars training and technical assistance in behavioral/mental health, wellness, child development, de-escalation techniques and positive behavioral guidance and parenting practices for children, staff and parents.

  • Ensure that all screenings, assessments, objectives pertaining to Mental Health/Disabilities are administered and follow up plans are implemented.

  • Conduct home visits for all children and families enrolled as needed and appropriate.

  • Provide and arrange education and training services to parents individually or in groups on topics related Mental Health/Disabilities.

  • Debrief child behavior issues with site staff and consult with families on these issues as needed at the request of staff and parents.

  • Collaborate with all district personnel and content area Supervisors/Specialists on a regular basis to ensure successful program services.

  • Track services provided in data entry systems, assessment systems and other systems used to monitoring child outcomes.

  • Participate promptly, actively and responsively in all required communications (calls, emails, data entry, reporting, meetings, etc.) as assigned.

  • Maintain and enthusiastically promote a positive image of the agency, programs, services and staff through actions, verbal and written communication and professional appearance.

  • Maintain and promote and project a positive, supportive and collaborative demeanor with all agency staff, supervisors, leadership team members, clients, vendors, visitors, agency partners and any community members and officials.

  • Perform any other duties as assigned in support of agency and program needs and operations.

Qualifications
  • Ability to verbally communicate and have the necessary interpersonal skills to deal with individuals and groups of varying abilities.

  • Demonstrate high reading and writing skills; high mathematical skills; and very high reasoning ability.

  • Knowledge of the needs, interest, problems and the social and economic deprivation of low-income persons.

  • Knowledge of the current trends and resources in behavioral health and other special needs for young children and their families.

  • Experience with Head Start/Early Head Start, Licensing, and State funded requirements and regulations in designated Pre-K or Infant/Toddler Program.

  • Able to compile and analyze complex data to make effective recommendations and decisions.

  • Ability to use information provided to draw valid conclusions that show understanding and insight into situation.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively under critical time frames and work with complex and sensitive information.

  • Proficient computer skills to include Microsoft Office, database systems, email and internet.

  • Able to apply current research, best practices, relevant laws, regulations and policies to support program quality and innovation.

  • Master’s in Psychology, Social Work or related field and 2-3 years’ counseling experience providing direct services to children and families in a Pre-K or Infant/Toddler setting.
