Description

The Waupun Area School District is a 4K-12 school district serving a population of 1900 students in South Central Wisconsin. Located conveniently on Hwy 151, Waupun is only 45 minutes north of Madison and 20 minutes south of Fond du Lac. WASD is home to four schools, including a charter school in Fox Lake. Currently seeking a full-time special education teacher at Rock River Intermediate School (2nd-6th grade) for the 2022-23 school year. This candidate should have an emphasis in the area of Intellectual Disabilities (ID) or Emotional Behavioral Disabilities (EBD) and will support students grades 2nd-6th grade. This unique caseload is comprised of students with ID and EBD. A minimum of a bachelor's degree is required to apply, and the district may support the right candidate to obtain licensure. District coaching and mentoring is available! Candidate must hold an applicable teaching license. This position includes providing direct instruction and possibly co-teaching support to students with a variety of disabilities. This individual is expected to collaborate with classroom teachers, school psychologist, administrators, support staff, and student services team to support our district vision and mission. Preferred applicants will have demonstrated skills and successful experience in: - Teaching special education for grades 2nd-6th. - Understanding and applying the PBIS (Positive Behavior Intervention & Supports) Framework. - Activating and coordinating multiple systems of care in order to support students. - Developing excellent working relationships and consulting with peers, as well as with community and agency stakeholders. - Knowledge and experience in the utilization of behavior management systems including conducting Functional Behavioral Assessment and designing individualized Behavioral Intervention Plans - Background in the use of social skills training models and interest/attitude scales - Knowledge of techniques, which are successful in working with parents of students with disabilities - Experience and/or training in Co-Teaching - Utilize creative and innovative classroom instructional practices - Educate and engage all students that are in your classroom in a positive and individualized manner - Develop and build positive relationships with others, especially students and parents - Remain current and utilize best special education classroom instructional practices - Work collaboratively and cooperatively with others - Implement the common core standards pertinent to population served - Utilize RtI approaches with struggling learners - Ensure social skills competencies are taught in daily lessons - Understanding of the IEP process, legal timelines, and assessment procedures - Background in the use of supplementary materials to support students in school core curriculum - Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable - Current training and Knowledge of Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) strategies and techniques (or willingness to be trained) Please submit through WECAN a cover letter, resume, and three current letters of recommendation.
