Description

This position protects CPKC employees and assets on assigned territory by providing security, general investigative, and other special services as requested.

Accountabilities

• Conducts preventative patrolling of assigned territory and investigates crimes that result in the loss of KCS resources, such as burglary, shooting signals and vandalism.
• Works with law enforcement agencies and courts to properly prosecute railroad cases.
• Maintains records of inspections and investigations.
• Briefs AVP Police and Special Services on all relevant situations on assigned territory.
• Conducts preventative inspections of inbound and outbound trains to ensure that proper seal protection and locking devices are in place and the yard.
• Promotes department security goals and enhances the department’s professional image by establishing and maintaining effective working relationships within and outside KCS (e.g., local, state, federal law enforcement agencies as well as other public safety agencies).
• Conducts surveillance and monitors all sensitive shipments by the government.
• Demonstrates operational excellence by knowing and applying the business requirements. Demonstrates customer focus and contingency planning to ensure stakeholder expectations are met.
• Understands the relevant business metrics and applies effective tactics to sustain a culture of operational effectiveness that produces teams of high performing, engaged and empowered operational leaders.
• Identifies when a rule/regulation/policy has been violated and has one-on-one accountability conversations with an individual who has not met expectations, using CPKC Candor, Aligning the Stars & CPKC ABC's, and have the individual produce better results.

Ideal Candidate Qualifications:

Required

• High School diploma or equivalent
• Minimum two (2) years of relevant operations experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Acumen in one or more disciplines of railroad operations
• Police certification

Working Conditions

• This position has a regular full time schedule with a normal work week of Monday through Friday. There may be a need for occasional work after hours or weekends.
• This position may require minimal travel up to 10% of the time.
