SPC Senior Environmental Technician Job at Systems Planning Corporation
Systems Planning Corporation (SPC), a subsidiary company of GAI Consultants, Inc., is seeking a Senior Environmental Technician. The Environmental Technician will be responsible for the environmental compliance oversite at construction sites as it pertains to VA Pollutant Discharge Elimination System VAR 10 General Construction Permits, County Land Disturbing Permits, U.S. Army Corps of Engineer (USACE) Water Permits, and various other environmental permits.

Responsibilities:
- Working under the Client’s and/or supervisor’s direction to execute Federal, State, and Local government's environmental requirements and audit compliance to various other environmental permits.
- Coordinating with project and site managers, environmental staff, contractors, and regulatory agencies.
- Supporting the Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPP) oversight, including Erosion and Sediment Controls Plans (E&SCP), Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasure Plans, Storm Water Management Plans, Fugitive Dust plans, and required weekly compliance monitoring reports.
- Supporting oversight of permitting and conducting weekly E&SC and site condition inspections with reporting of findings to project teams.
- Carrying out audits per applicable Federal/State/Local government laws/requirements.
- Responsible for keeping records of environmental incidents and providing recommendations for corrective measures.
- Working together with the Client’s management team to implement corrective action.
- Time will also be spent in the company or Client’s office processing paperwork and completing compliance monitoring reports.
- This position requires 100% fieldwork within the VA region with occasional overnights (approximately 40% of the time).

Experience
Required- 3 - 5 years: Technical training in the environmental field.
- Virginia Department of Environmental Quality Erosion and Sediment Control Inspector Certification (or be able to obtain within 6 months).
- OSHA 10-hour Safety Certification for Construction Sites (or be able to obtain it within 6 months).
- Excellent communication skills to be able to communicate with Clients and Stakeholders.
- Interpersonal and leadership skills.
- Coordinating abilities that are of the highest standards.
- Observant and proactive regarding issues related to environmental requirements and workplace safety at all times.
- 5 year(s): Technical training in the environmental field.
- Virginia Department of Environmental Quality Stormwater Management Certification.
Education
Required- Bachelors or better in Environmental and Earth Science or related field
Licenses & Certifications
Required- Driver's License
