Job Purpose

The purpose of the Software Developer is to plan, implement, and maintain software programs to meet department needs.

Essential Job Functions

• Collaborates with departments to understand user needs; drafts initial proposal and design of software to meet these needs.
• Assesses feasibility of design and project parameters within time and cost constraints.
• Analyzes user needs and designs software for department use.
• Develops code and designs software applications based on user specifications.
• Modifies existing software to correct errors or improve performance.
• Monitors and assists with software installation; ensures application operates within established specifications.
• Gathers and evaluates user feedback and then modifies software for better usability.
• Designs databases for specific application areas.
• Determines required system performance standards and hardware configurations based on specifications, budget, security needs, and other parameters.
• Advises departments on software maintenance.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Experience consuming API’s using Python
• Microsoft SQL server experience
• Experience working in a cloud-based environment such as Azure
• AI/ML, Big data and cloud processing experience preferred
• Shell Scripting knowledge preferred
• Must have an innovative mindset and be able to learn new technologies quickly
• Must work well independently

Education/Experience

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field
• At least one (1) year of experience as a Software Developer

Working conditions

This position operates in the IT department in a busy oncology/hematology clinic. This position has no direct patient contact. The person in this position may be required to work more than 40 hours per week, depending on the situation. This person may be on-call in the event of power outages, weather events, special events, etc.

Physical requirements

This position requires that the employee be able to sit at a desk for up to two-thirds of the day on some days. This position also requires that the employee be able to lift up to 50 pounds when transporting materials/equipment. This position also requires dexterity of hands and fingers when dealing with power cords, tools, etc.
