Reports to: Principal and Special Education Coordinator

Qualifications: Must possess a Master's Degree in Social Work. Prefer School Licensure.
The primary function of the Social Worker is to provide a mental health perspective in collaboration with school site personnel to:

• Develop/ enhance a positive school climate
• Support the implementation of behavioral response to intervention (RTI)
• Build and facilitate effective student support structures, such as Student Assistance Programs (SAPs) and Student Success Teams (SSTs), Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS)
• Provide mental health and crisis services to students and families
• Develop new evidence based programs based on students’ needs
• Refer students and families to a broad range of community resources
• Provide classroom and student behavior support to teachers

Minimum Qualifications: Masters Degree in Social Work and a valid Illinois Licensure

• Experience providing facilitating support groups, and counseling in a school setting.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, experience working with multidisciplinary teams
• Experience collaborating with community based organizations and other city agencies.
• Knowledge and experience with computers, including: word processing, databases, and internet access.
• Works primarily with counseling students in grades Pre K - 8

Desired Qualifications: Bilingual – Spanish (optional)

• Familiarity with Positive Behavior Interventions (PBIS); Character Counts or such program delivery.

Terms of Employment:
1.Salary and benefits shall be paid consistent with the District’s approved compensation plan.
2.Length of the work year and hours of employment shall be those established by the Fairmont School District 89 Board of Education.

Evaluation:
Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Fairmont School District 89 Board of Education policy on evaluation of personnel.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $45,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
