Snow Maker

Season: Winter Seasonal – November till March
Time: up to 12 hour shifts often overnight; 12-40+ hrs/week depending on conditions
Compensation: $15-$19/hr based on experience and performance; no other benefits

Job Summary:

Heiliger Huegel Ski Club is looking for snowmakers for the upcoming winter season.
Snowmakers must be very interested in working outside in extreme, challenging and ever-changing winter weather conditions. Snowmakers spend the majority of their 12 hour shifts outdoors. Hours of shifts may vary depending upon weather, temperatures and other naturally occurring factors. Due to the dependence of weather it is not uncommon to receive short notice on shift schedule. We will do our best to provide at least 24 hours’ notice before a scheduled shift, but this may not be possible due to changes in weather conditions. When not snowmaking, your job may shift to other areas at Heiliger Huegel Ski Club. Snowmakers have little contact with the general membership, however it is essential that snowmakers maintain a polite, mature and respectful composure when interacting with any member or guest.

Essential Functions:

• Adheres to all snowmaking policies, safety guidelines and best practice procedures at all times.
• Assist crew lead in set up, operation, and breakdown of snowmaking guns and hoses.
• Support the snowmaking team in ensuring the highest quality of manmade snow for Heiliger Huegel Ski Club.
• Assist members and management in maintaining a safe and cleanly environment throughout the Club grounds
• Ability to work any shift including day and night. Typically, 12 hr. shifts as needed (weather dependent).
• Safe and efficient operation of ATV, Snowmobiles and a variety of other snowmaking equipment.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• High School diploma or equivalent - required.
• Valid Driver’s License - required.
• Must be able to read, write and understand English - required.
• Must be 18 years of age
• Snowmaking experience a plus but will train.

Required Knowledge and Skills:

• Must be able to fulfill 12-hour day shifts or night shifts in all weather conditions.
• Must be extremely safety conscious and pay very close attention to detail while working with heavy equipment and machinery on diverse types of snow surfaces
• Any relevant experience is appreciated but not required
• Minimum age is 18
• Will provide training to qualified individuals

Physical and Mental Demands:

This position works primarily outside, and requires prolonged periods of standing and walking on slippery and/or uneven snow or icy surfaces. Snow making frequently occurs at night, so it is essential to remain alert and attentive at all times. Shoveling large volumes of snow and/or ice will be required at times. Must be able to frequently lift and pull a minimum of 50 pounds.

Work Environment:

This position involves working outside in all weather conditions, including extreme cold, snow, wind and rain, on varied snow surfaces, and requires being on your feet for portions of the scheduled shift. The nature of working in a variety of extreme winter conditions means that is critical to come dressed appropriately, so that you are able to spend consecutive hours outside setting, monitoring and breaking down snow making equipment.
