With a strong background in service journalism and experience writing for lifestyle brands, the Shopping Editor will pitch, write, edit and assign shopping content for multiple distribution channels, including search, newsletters, social and partners. About you:
You’re a flexible writer and editor with the organizational skills and attention to detail needed to produce quality, on-brand shopping content that will succeed across various channels. You have a strong track record of pitching, writing and editing content about products or shopping with the intent to drive transactions. You’re curious about the Reader’s Digest audience and use your knowledge to tailor content to their interests, needs and buying habits. You are collaborative and an active contributor to brainstorms, with a fresh perspective on what’s new and what’s next for the audience. You’re interested in what’s happening in the world of shopping (especially in the lifestyle space) and how to provide that to our audience in valuable, relevant and entertaining ways. You’re a consumer of content and online shopper, enabling you to spot opportunities through your own creative endeavors and eye for trends.
If you’re eager to be part of a growing team; are flexible, creative and driven; love to get your hands on products to test and evaluate; and have impeccable organization and service journalism skills, you have the qualities we’re looking for in this exciting new role.
Your day-to-day:

- Work closely with our dynamic team of freelance and staff shopping writers and editors
- Edit incoming stories from freelance and staff writers for grammar, voice, product choice, formatting and SEO strength
- Write and refresh affiliate content using search-relevant best practices, including internal linking and adding appropriate affiliate links

- Research products across different categories including home, pets, beauty, travel and other areas of interest
- Assist in the brand’s commerce strategy by including affiliate links in content with a focus on reader service
- Contribute to brainstorms for content clusters, trends and other editorial initiatives
- Work on multiple projects simultaneously and ensure all project deadlines and goals are met
You have:
- 3-5 years of professional digital editorial experience, preferably in affiliate ecommerce
- Demonstrated experience pitching and creating shopping content, especially in the lifestyle space
- Strong digital editing skills
- Familiarity with SEO best practices and research tools; proficient in WordPress, basic HTML, Microsoft Excel and other spreadsheet-style programs such as Airtable
- Experience with large affiliate platforms such as Amazon Associates and Skimlinks preferred
- Skilled at organizing and managing multiple projects at one time, consistently meeting deadlines and catching small details
- Ability to work independently, but also as part of an evolving, dynamic team
- Willingness to go above and beyond to achieve revenue goals
- Ability to think creatively on your feet, set priorities and quickly change course as data evolves
