Shipfitter **HOT JOB*** Job at NSC Technologies
Assignment: This is a contract assignment up to 12 months. This assignment can become a permanent assignment after contractual hours are met.
A. Basic Purpose and Function:
- Position, align, fit, and weld parts to form complete units or subunits, following blueprints and layout specifications, and using jigs, welding torches, and hand tools.
- Verify conformance of work pieces to specifications, using squares, rulers, and measuring tapes.
- Tack-weld fitted parts together.
- Lay out and examine metal stock or work pieces to be processed to ensure that specifications are met.
- Align and fit parts according to specifications, using jacks, turnbuckles, wedges, drift pins, pry bars, and hammers.
- Any miscellaneous duties as may be required.
Required Skills
- High school diploma or GED
- Six months to 1 year of ship fitting/welding experience.
- Ability to read blueprints
- Ability to set up and operate fabricating machines, such as brakes, rolls, shears, flame cutters, etc.
- Lift or move large parts using large cranes.
- Ability to work outdoors in any weather.
- Negative drug screen.

- Shipfitting/Welding: 3 years (Preferred)
- Maritime: 2 years (Preferred)
