Job Description


Iona University seeks an SFS Representative who will, under the direction of the Associate Director of Student Financial Services:


  • Greet and address inquiries, registration needs and/or payments of students, parents and other visitors to the SFS offices at Iona University, and provides support services for the SFS team.
  • Take payments by cash or paper check and posts to students' accounts. This involves determining the amount owed by first analyzing the student account. Identify type of payment such as external scholarships, working with Financial Aid counselors to properly award and post such checks. Reconciliation of payments to posting is done on a daily basis.
  • Respond to general student account and financial aid inquiries by retrieving information from various government and other financial institution websites. Help students navigate various websites as they apply for loans and grants, sign up for payment plans or complete entrance or exit interviews etc. Counsel students on account balances and payment options.
  • Respond to Call Center logs and SFS emails, as assigned. Responsible for daily upload of FERPA and Title IV waivers from Dynamic Forms to PeopleSoft. Process daily parent loan letters.
  • Maintain the online appointment system
  • Assist with outreach projects, mailings, office filing and special projects.
  • Maintain inventory of supplies and order when needed.
  • Address flow of students to the appropriate SFS personnel.
  • Participate in recruitment and retention functions (new student orientations, registration nights, Admitted Student days, Open house, Move-In Day etc). This includes weekend and evening events.


Required Experience

  • Associate's degree required; bachelor's degree preferred
  • One to two years customer service experience, preferably in a higher education environment
  • Friendly and helpful attitude
  • Ability to work with a diverse group of students and parents
  • Ability to work independently and with a team

  • Facility with numbers
  • Knowledge of Word, Excel
