Service Advisor - Truck Care

Our service advisors are customer-focused professionals who listen to the customer’s concerns and advise them on the best possible solutions. They are passionate about getting our customers back on the road quickly while driving profit through sales of service, repairs and parts.

Service Advisor Responsibilities:

  • Greeting customers in person or by phone and providing exceptional customer service
  • Listen to the description of problems or service needed
  • Determine type of service required based on diagnosis and prepare repair orders
  • Estimate the time and cost of every repair
  • Advise customers on other available services
  • Secure agreement from the customer prior to all repairs
  • Manages delivery of required repair action by successfully setting and managing customer expectations and accepts accountability for delivering outstanding service levels
  • Clearly explain the requested service of every truck
  • Act as a liaison between the customers and technicians
  • Maintains documentation, including purchases orders, invoices, work orders, etc.
  • Verify all final invoices and reconcile work performed and charges

Qualifications:

  • Ability to work flexible shifts—including nights, weekends, and sometimes holidays
  • Previous experience as a service manager or supervisor
  • Previous mechanical experience
  • Ability to do some light lifting (no more than 50 lbs) and bending once in a while
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Basic math and computer skills

The Service Advisors help run our business by providing excellent customer service while operating the cash registers, inputting and verifying service orders, stocking merchandise, and performing commercial lube/tire services. This position is responsible for various daily customer services tasks by operating the cash register, assisting customers and offering service/product recommendations as needed, as well as inputting work order information into POS system and then verifying accuracy of services performed. This may also include road call services and basic housekeeping tasks around the location such as sweeping and mopping, cleaning restroom areas, and other tasks as assigned.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Greet customers as you see them, speak politely, and assist customers
  • First point of contact with customers in the service bay to identify services needed
  • Recognize and resolve customer issues or complaints by determining optimal solutions in a timely manner.
  • Recognize opportunities to establish and improve the satisfaction of the customer to create customer loyalty.
  • Accurately input work order information into POS and verify accuracy of services performed
  • Operate a cash register and maintain an accurate and organized drawer
  • Accurately collect and close out invoices that maybe pending and ensure all services rendered are paid
  • Ability to communicate with fleet maintenance departments to obtain work authorizations and/or purchase orders
  • Answer phones promptly and address customer needs quickly using proper phone etiquette
  • Stock and face merchandise in customer area
  • Perform customer area & restroom maintenance such as but not limited to; detail cleaning toilets, sweeping/mopping floors, mirrors and doors, service trash cans, and wipe excess oil off counters, doors, windows
  • Maintain oil analysis machine, keeping flush bottle full and emptying waste bottles
  • Perform commercial tire care and lube services such as draining oil, changing oil, filling fluids, greasing, putting air in tires, and changing out tires
  • Maintains grease and oil hoses and dispensers
  • Assist management with training employees on all commercial tire and lube services the location provides
  • Cleans and organizes workstations and necessary tools
  • Perform basic equipment repairs
  • Keep the facility organized by using the 4 S’s – Sort, Straighten, Scrub, Sustain
  • Update HAZCOM Manual and Safety Data sheets
  • Monitor functionality of the Veeder Root and oil separator/monitoring wells
  • Operate a company vehicle to perform roadside repairs as needed.
  • Perform weekly and monthly projects
  • Maintain personal grooming and uniform standards
  • Maintain a safe facility and use safety first practices to remain accident-free

QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred

Experience:

  • 6 months retail and cash handling experience preferred
  • 6 months of facilities maintenance experience preferred
  • 1-2 years’ experience in trucking industry preferred

Requirements:

  • Must have a valid driver’s license
  • Must have a clean and consistent record of safety

Hard Skills:

  • Ability to learn and operate a casher register
  • Ability to learn and perform basic housekeeping tasks, repair and maintenance procedures, and safety glasses/vest usage

Soft Skills:

  • Good verbal and written communication skills, time management skills, organization skills, can-do attitude, sense of urgency, and strong work ethic

Typical Physical Demands:

  • Regularly required to talk and hear
  • Very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day
  • Frequently lift and/or move items over 75 pounds
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus
