The Role:

We are looking for a personable and competent Server to take and deliver orders at our restaurants, the Harbor Reef Restaurant, Harbor Sands, and Banquets. You’ll be representing the restaurant and responsible for our customers’ experiences.

Server responsibilities include ensuring our tables are clean and tidy when guests arrive, presenting menus and discussing specials, finding upselling opportunities and ensuring that the food and beverages are served up to the guest’s expectations. You need to be responsive to customer needs and have a polite, professional, and friendly attitude. If you enjoy talking to people and thrive in a fast-paced workplace, we’d like to meet you.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide the highest quality of customer service to our customers, greeting them with a smile and in a friendly, positive, professional manner.

  • Provides information to help food and beverage selections, thus requiring a strong understanding of the food and beverage menus, explaining the chef’s specialties, identifying appropriate beverage pairings, and answering food preparation questions. Communicate and support sales promotions.

  • Transmits orders to bar and kitchen by recording customers’ choices and identifying customers’ special dietary needs and special requests.

  • Find upselling opportunities throughout the dining period

  • Accurately enter orders into the Point-of-Sale system.

  • Presents ordered choices in a prompt and efficient manner.

  • Maintains dining ambiance with an enthusiastic attitude.

  • Maintain grooming and uniform standards up to department expectations

  • Prepares dining room by setting decorations, condiments, candles, napkins, service plates, and utensils. Ensure that the dining tables and chairs are free of debris and the surrounding area is kept clean.

  • Protects establishment and customers by adhering to sanitation, safety, and alcohol beverage control policies.

  • Communicate with the Chef and/or Manager by noting timing of meal progression.

  • Serves orders by picking up and delivering customers’ choices from bar and kitchen and delivering accompaniments and condiments from service bars.

  • Responds to additional customer requirements by inquiring about needs and observing the dining process. Offers dessert, coffee or after-dinner drinks

  • Maintains table setting by removing courses as completed, replenishing utensils, refilling water glasses, and being alert to customer spills or other special needs.

  • As needed, connect with customers to ensure that the dining experience is up to expectations.

  • Concludes dining experience by acknowledging choice of restaurant and inviting customers to return.

  • Obtains revenues by totaling charges, issuing bills, accepting payments, delivering bills and payments to host, and returning change or credit card and signature slip to patrons.

  • Ensure that the guests are leaving the establishment pleased with their experience and invite them to share it with others on social media.

  • Understand the Company’s activities and various venues to recommend and/or upsell to customers.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must have a strong passion for exemplary customer service

  • Must have a can-do and success-as-a-team attitude

  • Safe Food Handling Certificate

  • Responsible Beverage Service (RBS) Certificate

  • Must be at least 18 years old

Education and/or Experience:

  • Prior upscale restaurant or high-end resort experience is preferred, but not required

Language Skills:

  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret company policies, procedures, or governmental regulations.

  • Ability to effectively respond to questions from managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.

Physical Requirements:

  • Requires visual acuity and ability to hear to clearly communicate with Managers, coworkers, and customers.

  • Must be able to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods of time.

  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 20 lbs.
