Financial Business Partner / US Senior Contract Analyst

This role will be located in Houston, TX and will serve as a financial liaison for the Houston Regional Office, combining accounting and operational support. The role provides opportunities to advance along various paths tailored to your unique skill set as you grow your career. The Contract Analyst team is a pipeline for leadership positions within the Finance and Accounting organization. Senior Contract Analysts have exposure to multiple levels of leadership, including our executive leadership team. While this role is located in Houston, TX, it will work collaboratively with our Contract Analyst team and Corporate Accounting department at our World Headquarters in Kansas City, MO. Additionally, you will provide project-level support to our project teams, including Project Managers, Field Superintendents, Project Controls team and others. You will be able to work on department-wide and company-wide initiatives, combining your knowledge of our business and your technical skills to critically evaluate and solve complex challenges and drive value to our company.

Senior Contract Analyst responsibilities include:

• Analyze financials and key performance indicators of the Company, divisions and locations to provide meaningful insight into leadership
• Review projects, interpret financial implications, ensure appropriate application of revenue recognition, apply engineering and construction accounting standards and evaluate risk on the largest and most complex projects in the Company.
• Partner with engineering and construction project teams to assist with project financials and forecasting
• Lead, coach and mentor Contract Analysts in the US and India
• Support the Contract Accounting Managers with planning initiatives and group coordination
• Create and participate in formal and informal training of project managers and division and location management
• Execute processes and tasks in support of month-end close and financial reporting that is timely and accurate
• Assist in client-initiated audits, project-specific financial audits and the annual financial audit for the Company
• Support and fulfill lead roles for special projects that focus on innovation and process improvement
• Develop and implement best practices for the US and India Contract Analyst teams

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
• Minimum eight (8) years of related accounting experience; extra credit may be given for public accounting experience
• Willing to travel up to 10% as needed
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel
• Must be self-motivator, detailed, well-organized and have strong client service skills
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Preferred (but not required):
• Experience accounting for contracts in the construction/engineering industry with exposure to percentage of completion revenue recognition (or software revenue recognition)
• Experience with Oracle and Microsoft Power BI
• One year of additional credit given for CPA or MBA
