SI&T integrates, verifies, and validates our products. We put our systems together, exercise them in the lab or in the field, measure and analyze performance, and make sure our products work the first time and every time. To accomplish this, we develop plans and procedures, debug and evaluate system functions and interfaces, develop test environments, and work hand-in-hand with our customers.

Job Summary:

The Radars and Sensors Center within Systems Integration and Test seeks a talented Senior Systems Engineer to join our team participating in the planning and implementation of integration and test activities that involves testing hardware, software, system networking, and digital simulations in a facility consisting of test strings in support of Ground Test and Flight Test activities.

We develop test plans and procedures, debug and evaluate system functions and interfaces, verify system requirements in support of final sell-off to the customer, and integrate hardware and software.

Responsibilities to Anticipate:

  • Collaborate in a multi-disciplinary systems engineering team environment, coordinate personnel and test schedules, prepare and brief status updates, and support program activities with various program and customer stakeholders
  • Planning and supporting systems engineering integration activities and the coordination of test activities involving radar software, digital simulations, and hardware testing for Ground Tests and Flight Tests
  • Supporting string integration upgrades, verifying and maintaining test setup configurations, and subsequent test execution activities
  • Support quick-turn troubleshooting and failure analyses, including root cause and corrective action processes, and use of electronic lab test equipment
  • Ability to periodically support extended work hours on short notice and work with colleagues who represent a diversity of work and conflict resolution styles while supporting test program objectives. Local travel between RMD and government facilities in Alabama is expected

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • Typically requires a Bachelors in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 5 years of prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree (Masters) with minimum 3 years of prior relevant experience. Relevant experience includes Systems Engineering and/or System Integration, Verification and Validation experience for Department of Defense systems AND
    • Experience using UNIX, C/C++, testing and troubleshooting technical issues with software or systems associated with test strings and knowledge of basic network structures and architectures
    • Experience verifying test and evaluation processes are conducted and configured according to established procedures and maintaining test setup documentation
  • Experience executing systems engineering activities within a team environment and working closely with systems engineers, test operators, security, and external customers to strategize team approaches to tasks, and resolve program technical and schedule conflicts
  • Experience with staffing, creating schedules, tracking task progress, providing team direction, maintaining records, mentoring team members, and generating daily report status updates to program leadership
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a US security clearance prior to the start date. U.S. citizenship is required as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance

Qualifications We Value:

  • Experience supporting Ground Test and Flight Testing of Sensor capabilities and performance for the Missile Defense Agency Ballistic Missile Defense System
  • Experience specifically including test, integration, or verification and validation of X-Band family of radars (GBRP, AN/TPY-2, XBR), Early Warning Radars or other Missile Defense System (MDS) sensors
  • Leading multidisciplinary teams of systems engineering professionals
  • Experience integrating software with hardware/electronics, generating simulations, and establishing configuration control processes
  • Current/Active DoD security clearance or SSBI
