Keystone Tower Systems is a wind turbine tower technology company. Keystone has developed an automated system for low cost, in-factory and on-site production of towers for wind turbines, a technology that promises to reduce wind energy cost and expand wind development to new regions. We are currently expanding our team for commercial production and are looking for smart people with a passion for excellence.

We are currently seeking a full-time Senior Mechanical Design Engineer at our Pampa, TX production facility.

Job Summary: The Senior Mechanical Design Engineer will be part of a team that is supporting the commissioning, operation and upgrading of Keystone’s tower spiral welding systems and supporting equipment. They will have the opportunity to be involved in the design, build, and technical development of Keystone’s large-scale machines, working on very large (30+ tons) precision machine modules for the automated forming and welding of steel plate over 1” thick.

Job duties will include becoming knowledgeable about Keystone’s technology and related systems, supporting machine commissioning and operational efforts, and identifying and implementing system fixes and improvements for current and future machines. Communication and documentation of designs and results is also required. The candidate must be organized, responsible, and able to quickly come up to speed on new concepts.

Job Duties:

  • Supporting machine commissioning, operational, and upgrade efforts
  • Identifying machine issues and implementing solutions
  • Mechanical design: large machine components, automated systems, test fixtures, etc.
  • Supporting overall system design effort
  • Analysis: creating models to simulate design behaviors, failure modes, etc.
  • Creating and carrying out test plans to inform system design
  • Design detailing, solid modeling and creating design drawings
  • Documentation of all design and test activities
  • Support and provide guidance for lower level Mechanical Design Engineers

Required Education, Training, Knowledge, and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering
  • 8+ years experience in machine design
  • Experience with large/industrial machinery and heavy manufacturing a plus
  • Fabrication and/or machining experience a plus

Core Skills, Competencies, and Characteristics:

  • Proficient in Solidworks
  • Experience with Matlab a plus
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Organized, able to work on several tasks in parallel
  • Very careful and detail oriented
  • Able to work independently as well as with a team
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $100,000.00 - $140,000.00 per year
