Job Description:

Location: We support US virtual working arrangements in the contiguous 48 states, however the sales region is our Southeast region and the role requires regular travel within the territory.

The opportunity:

The Stop Loss Market Manager is responsible for the success of their team as they work to solve our clients’ needs through consultative and solution-based selling. In this role, you will lead a team of Stop-Loss Sales Specialists in the Southeast Region.

How you will contribute:

  • Build an effective, committed and high performing sales team

  • Define expectations of sales reps and understand required capabilities

  • Assess existing talent on role profile and identify gaps

  • Manage, develop, mentor and coach sales reps

  • Create opportunity to shadow and observe performance

  • Travel to reps within territory

  • Resolve issues and elevate appropriate issues as needed

  • Track and manage to production and operational metrics

  • Recruit, on board and train new sales talent consistent with expectations; leverage network of relationships

  • Facilitate regular meetings/forums and leverage collaboration tools to connect reps, share knowledge and collect feedback

  • Execute on a sales distribution strategy that will result in profitable growth

  • Support reps in developing territories and underserved markets

  • Enhance key broker interaction and deepen key broker relationships to market our products; build network and brand

  • Leverage market intelligence (i.e., competitive context, trends) to develop business

  • Analyze book of business to develop and implement selling strategies

  • Drive profitable sales for products within territory

  • Set, communicate and achieve territory and rep sales goals

  • Drive implementation of new business model and really understand it; execute with consistency

  • Participate in select large case sales and negotiations

  • Coach reps on case-level negotiations (assist in the beginning, support once they are seasoned)

  • Build relationships with other organizational leaders to make the new business model work

  • Act as a change leader; understand degree of change, communicate about it and advocate for it

  • Set and communicate sales goals, sales results, and profitability for your assigned territory

What you will bring with you:

  • Bachelor’s Degree from a four-year college or university preferred

  • Sales experience with demonstrated success preferred

  • 5+ years successfully leading teams preferred; with demonstrated ability to achieve sales goals

  • Deep knowledge of Group Insurance(in particular Stop Loss or Medical Insurance) preferred

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while meeting critical deadlines

  • Entrepreneurial and innovative with energy to lead others in achieving the highest standards in sales and service

  • Manage the overall budget/expense management process for their offices and to align territories, brokers and reps and to manage the overall structure to sell in their particular location

  • Must have a drive to succeed, a winning attitude and be interested in a career that offers independence, professional growth, and high-income potential.

  • Marketplace Awareness; Building, maintaining and leveraging of local network

  • Critical Skills include Consultative / Value Selling; Presentation; Negotiation; Analytical / Problem Solving

  • Collaborate with other Sun Life Sales Segments – Group Benefits, National Accounts and other peers

We consider various factors in determining actual pay including your skills, qualifications, and experience. In addition to salary, this position is eligible for incentive awards based on individual and business performance as well as a broad range of competitive benefits.

The annual base salary for this position $150,000, plus the ability to earn variable incentive compensation through a sales incentive plan, as well as a long term incentive plan.
