Your Mission:
Manage testing for complex software projects, directing the activity of Testers directly, ensuring that testing is carried out in the most efficient and effective way possible. Foster and Lead good working relationship with Application Engineers, Project Managers, Product Managers and other stakeholders in the development of high quality software. Provide leadership and direction to the team to create and execute comprehensive test plans appropriate to function, product, enhancements, etc. being tested. Provide recommendations regarding issues, processes and procedures both internally and externally. Responsible for test activities including identifying scenarios for test plans; use of automated testing tools; session based exploratory testing; review and root cause analysis for discrepancies found in test results. Demonstrate knowledge in technology and operational methods. Responsible for hiring and developing employees to ensure that the testing is carried out in accordance with the company’s business processes. Provide coaching and leadership to staff on testing and automation practices.
With a product wide scope with multiple projects, learn to supervise through planning, mitigation, delegation practices
Partner with other managers and test automation teams throughout the company to design and implement standardized solutions
Engage senior level management with proper escalation handling
Help in the development of new SOPs, Agile practices and adapting/inventing new approaches
Lead and engage the testing community and chair or co-chair working groups
Take the ownership and drive test planning deliverables, milestone estimates and goals with moderate supervision
Manage testing priorities defined by the team and test objectives
Work closely with PMs in Professional Services to ensure the right scope is assessed for each project
Analyze, contribute and enable the creation of test deliverables including test plans, test cases/scripts, test execution reports and defect reporting.
Drive in balancing client needs with the introduction of new innovation for the new services deliverables and the way product customization deliverables are tested.
Demonstrate experience and a proven insight of designing test approaches for all stages of the delivery lifecycle
Drive and lead the team to decide the different test layer approaches, i.e. API, UI, UI-Mocked, Integration; Manual vs Automated
Learn to proactively plan for higher level risk and mitigation planning for the current and future roadmaps
Work closely with available Test Automation Colleagues to enable automation test infrastructure and CI/CD design and pipelines
Be a focal point of deciding what testing techniques can be applied to further exploratory test efforts on client workflows and features
Drive ensuring visibility, traceability, and the control of SILC testing and validation processes
Be a driver of overcoming testing challenges, ensure good brainstorming and data collection practices are being implemented

Proactively aid, facilitate and monitor the business defining of acceptance & technical criteria and requirements
Responsible for SILC testing life cycle as well as a hybrid covering activities from Impact evaluations, analysis of requirements, preparation of test scripts, test execution, defect management and delivery of testing reports.
Managerial level presentation skills involving working with management
Monitor and ensure the team does not steer away from following processes, but leave room to innovate to improve SILC and hybrid, testing and automation practices
Produce metrics to help give visibility to potential testing improvements, i.e. automation metrics and risk assessment evaluations
Proactively work with the team to enable automation maintenance and improvements for test scripts, scenarios, tools and frameworks
Holds the client needs and quality in the fore-front and provides risk assessment evaluations
Drives and contributes with an active hands-on approach on test execution deliverables; expectation is a minor portion of your time will be to contribute to the testing efforts, e.g. manual and automation testing efforts
Rapid to accurately escalate risks, progress and issues to stakeholders and senior management
Review requirement changes and provide feedback on dev approach, test sessions, and requirements traceability to provide analysis and feedback
Help protect teams from distractions and unrelated or unnecessary work
Monitors all regulatory and SILC and Hybrid SILC/SDLC validation processes are being followed by the team and work closely with R&D Process and Validation team members
Managerial level communication skills involving working with management
Enforces a greater collaboration among testers, developers, business analysts, R&D, and team members
Embrace being the glue of the team and encourage an environment of trust and safety with open communication
Represent an initial and primary focal point for the team's escalation of issues
Heavily Involved in production support issue management and troubleshooting with team; drive issues forward from identification through to resolution
Ensure you are able to maintain a good level of product knowledge to be a subject matter expert of your project
Organize testing and quality events to facilitate additional areas of support with our support/services teams
Given we are in a regulated environment, participate and represent your team in external Client and FDA Audits for your Product Validation packages
Aid to educate and enable the team to have a right mix of skill-sets to perform different types of testing to exhaustively test the software
Lead, engage and motivate the team and providing guidance & feedback toward helping them to deliver
Establish a learning culture, additionally where documentation practices promote easy access to information on automation and testing practices
Actively work within the wider Testing community; i.e. be part of Testing Working Groups
Attempt to setup and facilitate having a great work-life and mental-wellness balance
Your Competencies:

Experience with regulatory compliance, FDA, and 21 CFR Part 11 is an asset
Your Education & Experience:
Degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering required
5+ years of experience in software testing as an individual contributor
3-6 years relevant leadership experience
Candidate must reside in New Jersey (office location Iselin, NJ)
As with all roles, Medidata sets ranges based on a number of factors including function, level, candidate expertise and experience, and geographic location.
The salary range for positions that will be physically based in the NYC Metro Area is $135,000 to $180,000
The salary range for positions that will be physically based in the California Bay Area is $141,750.00 to 189,000.00.
The salary range for positions that will be physically based in the Boston Metro Area is $132,750.00 to 177,000.00
The salary range for positions that will be physically based in Texas or Ohio is $118,500.00 to 158,000.00
The salary range for positions that will be physically based in all other locations within the United States is $120,750.00 to 161,000.00
Base pay is one part of the Total Rewards that Medidata provides to compensate and recognize employees for their work. Most sales positions are eligible for a commission on the terms of applicable plan documents, and many of Medidata’s non-sales positions are eligible for annual bonuses.
