We’re looking for an amazing Senior Manager, Decarbonization to fill this role, which is based in our Santa Clarita office. You’ll be responsible for leading the company’s ambition for continuous emissions reduction as well as progress and improve upon the company’s sustainability goals, an innovative technology leader will take on the role of managing our alternative fuels, energy savings, research, and development programs.

Responsibilities

  • Lead EEXI, CII & SEEMP III compliance analysis with class advisory services & share impacts with fleet while planning for conformance and mitigation measures
  • Collaborate in regular decarbonization strategy development with executive leadership, port operations, itinerary planning, technical & marine operations, and other Carnival Corporation brands working groups
  • Manage alternative fuel and emissions studies in applicability to new and existing fleet. Analyze and communicate lifecycle emissions impact of different fuels and company’s scope 1/2/3 emissions profile while identifying vendors for potential supply agreements
  • Responsible for leading the development of projects and managing them in accordance with company policies, procedures, maritime legislation, flag, classification, and related requirements
  • Manages the implementation and completion of projects by collaborating with suppliers, contractors, shipyards, and various departments both shoreside and shipboard
  • Development and management of financial plans for projects and collaborates with the financial planning and supply chain teams
  • Manages the progress of projects and the control action plans while providing regular updates to senior management by utilizing multiple project management tools
  • Submits all required regulatory documents and plans to appropriate Classification Society for review and plan approval
  • Implements and executes plans for project and equipment procurement in collaboration with logistics and contractors to establish an efficient & cost-effective shipping program
  • Ensures materials and equipment are in compliance with regulatory and statutory requirements and company policies
  • Collaborates with shipboard management, shipyards, contractors, and classification representatives to ensure a fully integrated and safe project solution
  • Collaborates with operational departments to identify potential shipboard safety, environmental and efficiency improvements
  • Develops, implements, and prototypes initiatives which lead to energy, fuel, and emissions reductions
  • Engages with internal stakeholders across all functional areas and collaborates with 3rd parties to develop novel, innovative solutions to improve the sustainability of the company
  • Utilizes various analysis techniques to identify best solutions for different ship platforms
  • Continuously seeks knowledge in the areas of marine technology and sustainable development
  • Must be an excellent communicator, able to work as a team player, a leader and independently as required
  • Must be capable of multitasking and working under pressure to maintain agreed deadlines

Requirements

  • Marine Engineer, Marine Electro-technical, Marine Technology, Marine / Engineering or Electrical Degree & or Class 1 qualifications & or PMP
  • 8 years in cruise ship, naval or offshore industry technical and commercial leadership, marine operations, and project management
  • Leadership with a good understanding of interpersonal, decision making, communication and empowerment skills to enable interaction with shipboard & shoreside management, employees, shipyards & vendors
  • Highly proficient in the use of computer business applications and project planning/management tools
  • Good understanding of project commercial cost analysis & negotiation
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, for presenting, negotiating, and resolving technical, inter-personal and commercial matters
  • Self-starter capable of and willing to participate in a mix of remote / home working and office visits for collaboration events
  • Capable of multi-tasking and working under pressure to maintain agreed project and logistics deadlines
  • Able to demonstrate strong interpersonal skills, leads through empowerment and demonstrates high relationship building capabilities
  • Working towards or achieved higher degree (MSc Engineering / Projects Field) and Chartered Status
  • Knowledge of current/impending marine regulations, legislation, USPH standards
  • Strong understanding and collaboration with external vendors for Marine equipment and systems technical knowledge & evaluation

  • Base Salary Range: $102,700.00 to $138,600.00. The range is applicable for the labor market where the role is intended to be hired. Final base salary is directly related to each candidates' qualifications and experience uniquely.
