We now have an exciting opportunity for a Lead Data Scientist/Natural Language Processing (NLP) Engineer to join our team supporting the Maximus Technology Consulting Services (TCS) division and our federal programs at-large. We are looking for an accomplished hands-on technical leader and team player.
You will lead and collaborate with teams in advancing the applied use of AI, Machine Learning (ML), and other data science techniques to drive responsible outcomes for our client’s hardest mission problems and support the end-to-end implementation of those solutions. This position will be focused on technical project delivery and capture solutioning (i.e., leaning in on existing or future projects and providing solutioning to capture new work).
What You Will Do:
Required Skills:
oExperience in evaluating and proposing AI/ML approaches and solutions associated with mission problem scenarios (to include use of vendor solutions/hardware, open source, and custom development)
oExperience working as a Senior Data Scientist:
oUse of scripting languages to conduct and automate common data analysis tasks for exploration, conditioning, or advanced analytics
oAbility to manipulate and analyze data from multiple structured and unstructured data sources to create data-driven solutions
oUse of a variety of programming languages, including but not limited to Python and frontend frameworks for POC demos and dashboarding
oUse and development of program automation, CI and CD, DevSecOps, and Agile
oExperience leading Data Science and AI teams:
oAbility to manage and mentor data scientists and AI/ML practitioners fostering a cultural of collaboration and learning
oAgile environment team leadership experience (to include prioritization, backlog refinement, Agile planning, and ceremonies).
oManaging and teaching the ability to contribute to and/or collaborate on analytics products using version control systems, including GitHub or Gitlab

What You Will Do:
- Lead, develop, collaborate, and advance the applied and responsible use of AI, ML and data science solutions for our clients leveraging leading NLP techniques and large language models (and potentially generative AI models) to create capabilities, applications, and systems that understand and analyze human language
- Lead and mentor a team of data scientists and AI practitioners to support the creation of solutions and real mission outcomes for our clients in fast-paced situations
- Act as technical translator for effectively articulating and translating technical needs, solutions, outputs, and impacts to all levels (both internally and for our clients) regardless of technical proficiency in a respectful, collaborative, and situationally appropriate manner
- Maintain current knowledge and evaluation of the AI technology landscape and emerging developments and their applicability for use in production/operational environments

- At least 5 years of applicable experience in the following areas:

- Experience with medical records document classification and search
- Experience with Generative Pretrained Transformers
- Experience with AI Engineering and Data Architecture to include AI/ML tool and platform configurations, cloud services and architecture builds, and supporting enterprise model optimization
- Experience with ModelOps/MLOps practices and frameworks and implementing solutions within cloud environments (including container-based environments)
- Experience with decision science knowledge to include hierarchical decision making, game theory, Bayesian and data collection protocols
