About this Position:
The primary role of the Senior Auditor - Internal Controls is to help identify, plan and conduct audit and consulting of internal control processes at Honda Group companies, including affiliated suppliers and/or vendors. The Sr. Auditor will assist management with improving the efficiency / effectiveness of their system of internal controls and reduction of risk through analysis of operations and communication of findings including identification of root causes and providing recommendations. The Sr. Auditor will apply common audit methodologies and approaches to plan and conduct internal control audits and will work closely with management personnel at all levels to track countermeasure implementation. The Sr. Auditor may also support other operational audit teams within the Audit Division to provide subject matter expertise. Additionally, the Sr. Auditor may be assigned to work on confidential business matters with other business teams / departments within the Honda Group.
The Audit process includes planning the audit including the development of the audit scope, performing audit fieldwork procedures, and preparing and communicating audit reports and completion of workpapers reflecting the results of the work performed. Additionally, the Sr. Auditor is required to perform follow-up on the status of outstanding audit issues. The Sr. Auditor will also assist AHM Audit management with the development of the annual internal audit plan, champion internal control and corporate governance concepts throughout the business and support business planning activities, as assigned. The Sr. Auditor may periodically direct and review the work performed by other Audit Division associates.
Responsibilities include:
- Plan and perform internal control audits and business reviews of Honda companies, affiliated suppliers, and vendors, which includes the evaluation of control practices, risk management and compliance conditions.
- Develop complex recommendations to improve the operations while supporting self reliance
- Writing reports and audit summaries to effectively communicate the audit results
- Document audit activities effectively using approved workpaper formats
- Confirm Countermeasure implementation and effectiveness
- Work closely with Auditee management associates throughout the Audit process
- Plan and conduct follow-up reviews
- Provide technical guidance and direction in area of expertise
- Communicate audit results to executive management in a clear and concise manner
- Evaluate management's countermeasure activity
- Help persuade or help others understand potential risk and risk mitigation through improved controls
- Perform special projects as directed by AHM executive management and / or AHM Audit management
- Participate in the select Honda internal control meetings and assist in supporting cross functional issues
- Support organizational improvement through development and presentation of materials and training programs
- Assist in developing and implementing improvements to the Audit Division tools, processes, and techniques to support continuous improvement and value added services
Who we are seeking:
Required Work Experience:
- 6 – 10 years of professional work experience with a large or medium size international company involved with complex internal controls and compliance related operations (automotive experience is a significant plus)
- Experience with applicable consumer finance laws and regulations at the North American, National/Federal, and provincial/state level as they pertain to a complex regulated environment
- Working knowledge and experience with data analytics is a significant plus
Required Education:
- Bachelor’s or Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, internal controls or related field or an equivalent combination of education and related working experience
- Professional certification is preferred (CIA, CISA, CFE, etc.)
Desired skills:
- Strong ability to work closely with other operational personnel to solve problems and improve operations to achieve 100% compliance and establish efficiency/effectiveness improvement in necessary
- Ability to manage multiple projects and collaborate with various levels of operating management in a complex internal control environment to identify and countermeasure actual or potential risks
- High proficiency in MS Office products, excellent analytical, oral, and written communication skills
- Attention to detail and ability to maintain confidentiality

Total Rewards:
- Competitive Base Salary: $77,800 to $116,700
Pay will be based on several variables that include, but not limited to geographic location, work experience, education, etc.
