Position Summary:

This Senior Hydrodynamicist Engineer role serves as an analytical specialist performing detailed hydrodynamic design and analysis of high-speed turbomachinery. This primarily involves the detailed design of the flow path for centrifugal pumps and inducers. Complete challenging analyses and designs with only high-level oversight by more senior engineers.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Lead challenging design and analysis efforts regarding flow path design for high-speed turbomachinery pumps and inducers. Meet all requirements, including technical capability, schedule milestones, and budgetary constraints, with minimal oversight. This also includes pump test support and analysis/reduction of test data. Additional assignments might include supporting the design of compressors, turbines, and fans.

Resolve technical challenges through in-depth knowledge of one or more aspects of turbomachinery hydrodynamic design.

Effectively function in a team environment to drive organizational success and improve BNI processes. Delegate work and provide oversight to other engineers.

Requirements:

To qualify for this position, an individual must possess the knowledge, training, experience and abilities required:

Education and Training:

Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent combination of education and

experience working in high aptitude manufacturing environment.

Experience:

Minimum ten years related experience and/or training in a relevant engineering role in the

hydraulic and aerodynamic design of pump turbomachinery.

Proven rotating machinery expertise and experience with associated systems

Comprehensive understanding of rotating machinery design, analysis, test, and troubleshooting.

Expert-level understanding in the following applicable areas of turbomachinery:

Hydrodynamic design of high-speed centrifugal pumps, including inducer/impeller blade shapes,

volute generation, diffuser flowpath.

Hydrodynamic design of inducers, including high suction specific speed capable inducers in a

challenging environment.

Other:

Must be willing to work overtime as required

Travel up to 10% of working time.

Desired Job Qualification:

Experience in Ansys CFX, Bladegen, Matlab, and Solidworks.

Applicable training certificates (CFD, etc) and successful completion of the Engineer-in-Training (E.I.T.) or Fundamentals of Engineering (F.E.) are desirable.

A Colorado State Professional Engineer License is desirable.
