What’s the Opportunity?
Anchor QEA is seeking a full-time geotechnical engineer for our offices in either: Seattle, WA, Amesbury, MA, Portland, OR, Irvine, CA, and Lakewood, CO. office to support our team with geotechnical, civil and environmental engineering design. We are interested in a candidate that has the capacity to grow and is a quick learner, detail-orientated, and a committed team player. Candidates for the position must have a M.S. degree in geotechnical engineering, 4 to 8 years of experience, and a demonstrated understanding of in field sampling, slope stability, foundation design, soft soils/sediments, seismic design and environmental cleanup. Successful candidates will have an opportunity to work on a variety of tasks of differing complexities, both independently and in team environments and learn directly from leaders in the industry.
Responsibilities:
- Preparing engineering calculations, cost estimates, design drawings, and specifications for upland and sediment remediation, waterfront, restoration and structural design projects
- Executing field sampling and analysis at upland and in-water project sites (position may require travel and/or field work for up to approximately 20-30%, depending on project needs; actual amount of time will vary over the course of a year)
- Preparing qualitative and quantitative analyses of geotechnical and environmental data
- Task management and delegation of work to junior team members, including peer review of calculations and written deliverables
- Technical writing to support the preparation of sampling and analysis plans, geotechnical baseline reports, remedial investigation and feasibility study reports, and design documents, including technical specifications
- Completing or providing office oversight of field assignments, including geotechnical and environmental sampling (soil, sediment, groundwater, and water quality) and providing construction management support during project implementation
What Are We Looking For?
Ideal candidates will have the following:
- M.S. in Civil Engineering (with a geotechnical focus) with 4 to 8 years of relevant work experience
- Experience with or interest in in-water and upland remediation sites, including the planning and implementation of sampling, data analysis, feasibility studies, and geotechnical design
- Strong written and verbal communications skills
- Critical thinking and strong problem-solving skills
- Ability to pursue Professional Engineering (PE) licensure within one year
- 40-hour HAZWOPER certification (preferred; will be provided by Anchor QEA upon hire if not certified)
- Ability to travel for field and/or construction projects (may be up to 30%, depending on project needs)
